About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore, engage, enlighten.
ABOUT ME
I like to explore. I like to do so in my mind as well as with my body. I like noise as much as silence, and having fun as much as staying peaceful. I have never met a person who didn't teach me something (intentionally or otherwise).
PHILOSOPHY
The world is at once very large and very small. So is the mind. Exploring both is the only way to experience the fulness of life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to use CS to travel the world and meet real people instead of relying on the insular, comfort-zoned world of hotels and package tours. I would like to provide other people with the exact same opportunity.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed through India several times. Loved the experiences it created, and looking forward to more. As I travel a lot I don’t often have a place to be able to host people but I do so whenever I can.
Interests
I am a musician first and foremost. I play a lot of instruments and do composition/production for movies and TV. I hold a postgraduate degree in psychology, and completed my undergrad in psychology and philosophy at the University of Cape Town. I like to spend as much time indoors as out, whether it be creating some kind of art (or engaging with it) or exploring the natural world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I spend the majority of my time listening to music of all kinds and learning to make it. I play a whole bunch of different instruments. I enjoy taking in all forms of art in this manner. You will rarely find me without a book nearby, and never without a music-making device of some kind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being at the 21st world Scout Jamboree at the age of 17 was an incredible experience, and an opportunity to literally meet the whole world at once. There were people from almost every country in the world gathered in the same place, with so much to learn from each other.
By far the strangest place I have ever been is Khufu's pyramid at Giza, in the central burial chamber. The place smelled like old medicine and older time.
Backpacked around India: from riding camels and sleeping on sand-dunes under the stars in the Thar Desert, then hiking the foothills of the Himalayas, to learning to play the sitar in Varanasi, cruising the backwaters of Allepy, watching the sun rise over the Taj Mahal, meditating at many temples around the country, and all with the help of the most amazing couch surfers!
Teach, Learn, Share
Maintaining a level of awareness above oneself is essential. This allows you to observe your own thoughts and actions and learn from them as though they were someone else's. After all, you will always be the person you are closest to, and yet the person you know the least. You must learn to learn from yourself before you can learn from others.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The best music collection, jam sessions/instrument lessons, great cooking skills, meditation/mindfulness sessions, traveller’s tales, and conversations on pretty much any interesting topic.
