About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To visit every single country in South and Central America

ABOUT ME
OBS: I am travelling from the 16th to the 27th of July and again from the 23rd to the 27th of August, so I wont be able to host people during that time :)

It's quite an ambivalent feeling getting to know somebody from a profile, but I'll do my best to "shape" an online version of me ;-)

let's start with the basics.
my name is Christopher Macias Escalona,
I originate from Mexico. To be more precise Mexico City. I actually used to live there for about 7-8 years of my life, that was until my mom decided to move to Cancún :) Back in the day, Cancún, for those of you who didn't know, used to be a small sleepy town with beautiful beaches on the Yucatán peninsula but as the years passed, tourism changed all that. Anyway. I moved to Cancún and spent around a year there until my mom suggested that we moved to Penang, Malaysia. Long story short, she was working as a stewardesse at the time and stationed in Penang, Malaysia. She met this wonderful man from Denmark, whom soon would become like a father to me. So we took a leap of faith and moved to Malaysia. Here I spent a year or so doing things kids my age do, and on top of that, I got the opportunity to learn english; cabel tv really has its benefits when it comes to language attainability ;)
Anyhow, the year flew! And we had to leave for Denmark, cause my "dad" was recalled from his work. And that's, (more or less) the story of how I got to Denmark, managed to live in two other countries and all that before i even turned 10! ;-)
And this is also the story of how I came to love the ingeniousness of travelling, experiencing and participating in new cultures and getting to know all kinds of different earthlings!

Now to the more specific stuff.
I like to think of myself as an honest, curious, creative, open-minded earthling :) Bu I mean, lets be honest you won't figure it out (that's an encouragement!;)) until you meet the people who surround me or meet me Vis-a-Vis. Only then will you be certain that what I am saying is true ;)

Besides that I enjoy a good challenge, a 'mindswallowing' conversation in the company of coffee, a pint or a glass of wine, getting to know peeps and especially letting life suprise me in any way it can, (I dare it) :)

At the moment I live in a small, you could even call it tiny, apartment in the heart of Nørrebro, right next to the old cementary where H.C. Andersen (the farytale guy) is burried, among other people :) My daily rutine (when I am not travelling or on vacation) consist of studying critical psychology and intercultural studies at Roskide university.

As for anything not related to the life within university, I of course love spending time with my friends, going out to bars, concerts, exhibitions and all that jazz. Moreover, I produce electronic music (sound design especially) and study photography as a hobby.

If this caught your attention, don't hesitate to contact me! I know that, I can't host anyone at the moment, but I'm always up for meeting new people from all over the world, and simultaneously to show them how cool of a city Copenhagen really can be, once you navigate through all the turistic stuff!

Until then, Cheerio :)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live by a few simple morals
Never grow up - your childish side is gold!
Always be honest - cause, why not? ;)
Be curious - life is extremely fun!
Challenge yourself - there is in my opinion nothing more rewarding when you overcome something you put to mind.
And lastly - music begins where language ends

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first introduced to Couchsurfing many years ago, by a former Girlfriend. She was a regular user of this great fora and community. Since then I have hosted a little and been hosted a little - definitely something I want to make grow :)

Interests

I'm very devoted to music and it plays a fairly big part of my everyday life. I would even go as far as to call it one of the many cylinders of my motor :)

Street Art is fascinating!
Photography equally. Actually, whenever i find time for it, I go roaming the city - documenting the everyday life of Copenhageners - such a fun way to explore your own city ;)

And like everybody else I enjoy food, water and air :-)
