About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Cycle from Seville to Copenhagen with my partner Hannah and our two kids aged nearly 4 years and 18 months! The boys have seats on our bikes and there's a trailer for when they want to sleep. We cycle for a few days then rest for a few days. We usually camp which we're happy to do at your place if possible - a couch or bed is great too! We have very little time in the day to do things like organise Couchsurfing communication, so sorry if we haven't read your whole profile.
ABOUT US
Fun-loving, easygoing Australian couple, like to share a laugh, an adventure and a good time. We love talking about everything; there's no conversation we can't have. Love books and all the issues. Happy to sleep on our sleeping mats on the floor if required :)
We're very straight up and find it refreshing when others are too.
We're currently mostly vegetarian, but the boys eat whatever. We like to cook and Hannah is good at it (Chris is a proficient chopper).
Hannah is a GP who enjoys creative things like sewing and food.
Chris hangs out with 16 year olds as their teacher.
Rupert is really into machines, particularly planes, trains and the TSS Earnslaw.
Murphy likes music, food and saying "caaaaaar".
Red hair is a thing for us.
PHILOSOPHY
You really can do hard things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I Couchsurfed for the summer of 2015 while cycling around Europe. It really was the best part of the trip. To meet open minded people from so many different cultures is great. Hotels are horrible and though hostels are better, I think the experience of couchsurfing is totally unique and amazing. I find it similar to Workaway in that you meet people who live in a place and really get to see what life is like there, not just see tourist attractions. It's also great for our kids to meet lots of people.
I hosted people in Melbourne while I was able, though not for the last 12 months. It's a different experience to surfing, and I really enjoyed it. Since we moved to Tasmania we've tried hosting, but we live in the bush and nobody wants to stay with us . It's like travelling when you have to stay in one place :)
Interests
Chris: I don't cycle for fun, more like I cycle to get somewhere and it happens to be fun. I really find everything interesting, though the most interesting thing is the human brain and how people's different experiences and genetics shape their views and who they are.
Hannah (written by Chris): I love sewing and doing creative things like printing my own fabric and finding gnarly patterns that my friends would like. I go hiking and camping a lot and really enjoy the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most. The Departed, Catch 22, Kurt Vonnegut, The Expanse are at the top, but there are so many more. I like Russian novels. I like books I learn from, mostly economics and psychology. I like movies I learn from. I like music that makes me dance in the check in line. (This section needs updating with all the reading I've done in the last five years!!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Chris: In the summer of 2015 I cycled from London to Istanbul then to Rome.
Hannah: In 2018 I hiked the Kungsladen.
Chris: I also once moved to France with little command for the language and tried to find a job.
Hannah: I've made 6 sets of custom overalls.
Chris: Also I once estimated 374mm to the millimetre. First go.
Hannah: I once figurateively ate an infinite number of rice paper rolls.
Teach, Learn, Share
Everything is in this category. If we know it, we'll teach it, if not, we'll learn it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Perspective. Which is all anyone can offer when it comes down to it. Mine is unique of course, and so is yours. So let's change them both a little bit more by sharing. And we can share food, though fortunately for us both, Hannah will be directing the cooking :)
