Sobre Mim

I am passionate about conservation of our planet's natural resources and telling their history through my photographs. I enjoy breathing fresh air in nature, be it on my mountain bike or walking down a trail. During the weekdays, I work from home for a multinational corporation in process improvement, play the piano, read books, edit photos and play games.

I am not a party person, so I don't go to bars or dancing stages. I prefer quiet places and people. If I go to the beach (not very frequently), I'm the one reading a book under a palm tree while the rest of the people are tanning, swimming and surfing. I prefer to listen to the sound of the waves and feel the wind on my face. I might be the only one at the beach watching the sunset when people have already gone back to their rooms, and the only one yet awake early enough to see the sunrise. On the trail I am usually quiet as well, listening to birds and insects or the sounds of a waterfall, but I do enjoy a good conversation.

I am a morning person. Usually I am up at 4:00 am Monday through Sunday, and by 9:00 pm I am sleeping. I am silent enough to not bother people early in the morning :-) and I can handle the occasional day staying up late.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

While I may not travel too frequently, I do want to make friends from anywhere in the world. To me, learning from other cultures and ways of life is important in my own personal growth, and helping others learn in the process is the best retribution I can think of.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Music:
1.By far the whole discography of Dan Gibson Solitudes, I created my own playlists to group similar albums together.
2. I also enjoy listening to the whole discography of Kenny G.
3. Since I play the piano, I have spent a few years listening to classical music; I particularly like Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven, but have plenty of other classical artists on my playlists.
4. And don't forget Michael Jackson, he will always be king.

Movies: My tastes revolve around epic and dramatic movies.
1. My all time favorites are Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Matrix trilogies (haven't seen Matrix Resurrections yet).
2. I also enjoy the whole suit of Harry Potter movies. I am not fan of reading fantasy, so I have never read any of the associated books.
3. Plenty of Romantic, Dramatic and Historic movies like Pride & Prejudice, Miracle Hands, Bridge to Terabithia, American Gangster, Flipped, ABC of Love, Batman, Inception.
4. In particular, anything related to the Second World War, like The Pianist, The Book Thief, Schindler's List, The Children of Irena Sendler, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
5. Anything documentary style narrated by David Attenborough is a must see (Frozen Planet, Planet Earth and the like).
6. Animated and child-oriented movies like Shrek (Shrek 2 is epic!), Ratatouille, Cars, Inside Out (makes me cry every single time), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Puss in Boots, Madagascar, The Ice Age, The Polar Express and The Grinch (I watch those two every Christmas!), any Jim Carrey movie (Liar Liar, Almighty and The Mask are my favorites).

Anime:
1. Steins;gate: Simply the best anime of all time!
2. Death note (from those two I enjoy the psychological drama mood).
3. Naruto & Naruto Shippuden (yes there is a lot of filler episodes, but plenty of drama).
4. Yu Gi Oh! It's a long series with many seasons, I have completed seasons 1 through 4 (Duel Monsters, GX, 5Ds and Zexal). What I like is the strategical mind that characters use to win their duels using card combinations that no one could ever think of. I like the associated card game as well, although I don't have physical cards, I play the PC version (Yu Gi Oh! Legacy of the Duelist - Link Evolution).
5. Dragon Ball, Digimon, Saint Seiya, Ranma & 1/2, Captain Tsubasa (oh those days in my childhood).

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

One of the most crazy things I ever did was going at 80 kmh (50mph) on a downhill road on my mountain bike. When it comes to biking, I am fearless.

Here is the other crazy story. My brother was living in Stamford, Connecticut due to work, and he had budget to either come to Costa Rica once every few months, or bring his family to visit him. In April 2008, he decided that both my younger sister and myself would go (both underage at the time). He came to Costa Rica, helped us get our passports and VISAs ready, and then he left to the US. My sister and me had never ever travelled out of the country, or boarded a plane, and my spoken English was not very good due to lack of practice. So he told us: "You will have a 7-hours layover at Atlanta, if anything happens, call me at this number, and I'll be there in the next flight". We reached Atlanta for the layover, and completed the whole migration and security process in half an hour. Now we had 6 hours until our last flight to New York and a huge airport to explore!
