About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experiencing the World!

ABOUT ME

I am originally from New York, but I have been living outside of the U.S. for the past 3 years. After nearly 2 years living in Argentina studying in a masters program, I moved to Brazil and I love it! I lived in Sao Paulo last summer and traveled outside of Brazil for work during the winter, but for this summer, I will be living in Salvador. In my travels, I have met amazing people, and I look forward to meeting even more!

PHILOSOPHY

I learn more with every person that I meet and every new country that I travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in hosting others and having others host me. I am also interested in helping foreign tourists traveling to other parts of Brazil navigate the complicated (and at times difficult) ways of doing things here in Brazil.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I created a couchsurfing profile in January 2012, after backpacking in Patagonia and meeting great people who all had amazing couch surfing experiences. I have not yet couch surfed or hosted anyone because my work always makes arrangements for me, I have visited friends while traveling and stayed with them, my backpacking since has been to remote places rather than urban centers (Morocco is a great place to backpack), and I have been traveling pretty much non-stop since January 2012 for work, so unable to host anyone. I look forward to finally hosting travelers here in Salvador.

Interests

I am interested in politics, cooking, swimming, biking, surfing and running, and I am easy going.

Music, Movies, and Books

For movies, music and books, it is very difficult to say which are my favorite, but I enjoy all kinds of movies, though generally not scary movies. With music I like electronic, classical, rap, jazz and rhythm and blues (pretty much any kind of music) and with books I mostly read non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have ever seen (though I plan to see many more amazing things) would certainly be penguins in Patagonia! The countryside and mountains surrounding Lake Geneva in Switzerland and France are also amazing. I once drove from New York City to Los Angeles through Chicago, Colorado and Las Vegas (almost 3,000 miles, or 4,800 kilometers), and I would highly recommend it for anyone who has time (especially the Rocky Mountains and Colorado), though the drive is about 60 total hours of driving! One of my other favorite places is Rome.

Teach, Learn, Share

For anyone that wants to improve English skills, I have taught English as a foreign language before. Yo puedo hablar en espanol, je peux parler en francais, e agora estou aprendendo portugues. I can also speak very basic Swahili and a little bit of Arabic. The next language on my list that I want to learn is Arabic!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, United States
