I'm currently living in Indianapolis and working in cardiovascular-genetics research. I also do research in cognitive psychology on the side.

For fun I'm a bassist, I read comics, I'm a gamer, and I listen to an inordinate amount of music. I'm also incredibly social, so most of my free time is spent with my friends doing one of the aforementioned things.

I'm long-winded and easily entertained. I move seamlessly from Camusian absurdism to caucasian absurdism (#WhiteNonsense). If you don't find torrential puns and song-references tiresome then we'll get along swimmingly.

I'm also an ENFJ, if that's a thing that means anything to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

to meet new people and experience new things! To revive my sense of what it means to be human and connect with people in a substantive way. Also to save money on hotels (I'm an honest and pragmatic man).

Interests

Psychology, cardiovascular-genetics, gamification, music, philosophy, theology (to a lesser extent), beer, comics, whiskey, physical fitness, and coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading: I read comics, works of philosophy, and research articles. I'll read novels occasionally, but generally only if they're lent to me or if I feel a societal obligated to read them.

Movies: Essentially, I only watch movies socially. I'm not a big cinephile. Some of my favorite films include: The Producers, Oldboy, The Avengers, Duck Soup, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'll watch any Marvel film.

Television: My all time favorite television program is 30 Rock. I also love Rick and Morty, Arrested Development, Comedy Bang Bang, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Firefly, Doctor Who, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Raising Hope, Parks and Recreation, and many others.

Music: I listen to an inordinate amount of music, and try to keep up with current releases. Broadly, I love hip-hop, progressive rock and metal, experimental rock and metal, experimental electronic music, synth pop, shoegaze, and post-punk music.
Some of my favorite artists include: The Mars Volta, Mastodon, White Denim, Animal Collective, Interpol, Starflyer 59, Autolux Flying Lotus, Here We Go Magic, Busdriver, MF DOOM, Of Montreal, Frank Zappa, The Reverend Horton Heat, and Joanna Newsom. I'm always looking for recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was still in my undergrad I first authored a publication in the cognition of pictorial metaphor that was accepted for publication in an international journal (the IJOCA). One of my life goals is to be prolific, so that was just the first of many publications.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to tutor and work as a teacher's assistant. Eventually, I intend to get my PhD and teach and conduct research within the social sciences. I'm also in love with learning! It's my dream to be in school forever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm told I'm quite entertaining, and I think I'm an excellent conversationalist. I'm also quite respectful and incredibly autonomous. I love meeting and chatting with new people! I've never met someone that I can't learn something from, and I try to foster a magnanimous love of all of mankind. I can also edit any manuscripts you may be working on.
