About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Biology graduate and ecowarrior :). My ultimate dream would be to get into documentary production.
ABOUT ME
I'd say I'm probably very easy to get on with. Very mild tempered, very polite, quite chatty, very energetic under the right circumstances and very inquisitive. I love to discuss the things I know little about with people who do know a lot about them, and I also enjoy the converse.
I studied in Sweden for a year, which was the best year of my life by a long way. I had a lot of international friends, which made me appreciate the diversity in the human world, and I would like to see as much as possible. My time there also cracked the thick shell I'd built around myself, and gave me the confidence to pursue the things I've always wanted to pursue.
Quite a few people have said I have a very calming presence, although no-one has yet explained why.
PHILOSOPHY
"There's more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done." And I wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoying oneself and improving the lives of those around you are the only true goals in life :).
LIFE GOAL
To find an occupation which I never want a holiday from.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I cannot offer a couch :(.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't done any over the internet, its all been through friends so far. Very good experiences though. The highlight was staying with a guy who managed to get me and a friend of mine into the opera for free, and meet the directors and stage hands.
Interests
My main sport is windsurfing (I used to run a student club!).
I have a deep love of the natural world, and though I know quite a bit about it in some areas (as you'd hope with a science student!).
Discovering new interests!
- documentaries
- cooking
- traveling
- opera
- windsurfing
- sports
- science
- learning new things
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm terribly uncultured when it comes to films, recommendations would be greatly appreciated! If I'm watching something, its probably a documentary. However, I do like Shawshank Redemption, Interstellar, Munich and anything by Monty Python. In terms of genres, I like most comedy (although I'm not a fan of RomComs), or anything that is gritty and unsettling. If it doesn't make me laugh or make me think, I probably won't watch it again.
I like virtually all music, from trance, to folk, to classical. On my travels I managed to visit the opera in Vienna (for free - the joys of couchsurfing!), which was magnificent. I haven't used an iPod for years, when I am out I like to listen to the sounds of the world around me. When I do want to listen to music, I'll just find a compilation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen the Northern Lights. I even won't attempt to describe how beautiful they are, or the effect they had on me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people about some of the more intimate workings of life, although few I've met actually find this very interesting :(. Problem is it gets very very technical very very quickly, and some find this subtracts the beauty. I understand why people say this, although I do not agree with them :).
I want to learn from people more, and hear stories and experiences of people from different backgrounds than mine.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a decent cook (despite the undeserved reputation of English cuisine!) and a former wine salesman, so you'll have a happy palate with me around.
I have a few stories to tell, and ears to listen to yours!
A big smile and a calming presence (so I'm told)
Very fluffy hair
