About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to live out our neverending need for travel and meeting people from all over the world. Also to leave others with a positive impression of our country and a city that we LOVE!

ABOUT ME:

We are a married couple (Married 3 years in November 2022, and together 9+ years!), and our relationship was built on the love for travel! Our relationship was put to the test in many ways throughout our backpacking days, and it made us stronger than ever. We have two very friendly cats who are like our children, and they would love to meet you too. Also, we have our COVID Vaccinations and boosters.

Chris: I'm a 36-year-old born and raised in Miami. I went to Florida State University and got my Masters in Political Science to work in campaigns, legislation, and advocacy. I have a background in health policy and work for a large public health non-profit organization.

Kelsey: I'm 31 years young and traveling has made me who I am today! I'm a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Sociology. I was raised in the Tampa, FL area, but currently live in Washington DC (5 years now). I work in Marketing and love it.

Our travel experiences include:
- (Chris) 2.5-month backpacking trip in Europe in 2011.
- South America for 2.5 months earlier in 2015 (Paraguay, Argentina, Patagonia region, Chile, Bolivia, & Peru)
- Southeast Asia for 1.5 months in later 2015 (South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, & Vietnam)
- For our Honeymoon, we visited Bali, Indonesia as well as Singapore & a 24-hour layover in Taiwan.

PHILOSOPHY

-Never take things too seriously and patience above all.
-Everything happens for a reason.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people from all over the world and learn more about other cultures. Also to provide hospitality to guests in our city and country, whether they come from near or very far. We know how Couchsurfing is so valuable and unique versus staying in a hotel or hostel, and we want to share that experience with as many people as we can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:
We started hosting in 2014 while living in Florida, hosting over 6 times. Took a break from hosting when we traveled in mid-2015. We have stayed with multiple people in countries such as Paraguay, South Korea, & Thailand, as well as met up with locals just to hang out! Haven't had a bad experience yet. Now that COVID has calmed down, we are excited to ramp things up again.

Interests

Chris: My electric skateboard, cars, music festivals, video games, Reddit, camping, anything involving a body of water, road trips, handcrafted cocktails, beer and wine.

Kelsey: Almost all the above, plus my electric bike, fashion, boating, crocheting/sewing, playing the piano, the beach, coffee, good food, and my guilty pleasure TV show is Love Island! I love a fun night out dancing, but also love hanging out at home and binging TV shows or mindlessly scrolling through TikTok.

Music, Movies, and Books

electronic music, 90s and early 00s hip-hop, Indie Pop.
The Princess Bride, Shawshank Redemption, Anchorman, Zoolander, Fight Club and so many more.
Many times, whatever I last read becomes my new temporary favorite book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It would have to be a tie between walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia (Argentina) and doing the 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. Both were life-changing experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

First and foremost, we would love to show you around Washington, DC! We love our city and there's so much to do and see.

We would also love to cook something yummy for you!

We would love to learn more about other people's cultures, travel techniques, new languages, and local recipes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company, cleanliness, cooking/baking up something yummy, willingness for adventure! We can definitely be independent but also love having people show us around and hanging out in general.
