About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and write a great novel

ABOUT ME

I'm devoted to literature, my family and whatever travelling I'm able to enjoy.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to make a little difference...awwww...maybe; life without travelling is like only reading one page of a book. There are as many philosophies as there are aspects to life, it's very hard to pin one down. I'm quite fond of the Whitman's gem; do I contradict myself? Very well, I am large, I contain multitudes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's been a while since my couch has been available and might be still. Maybe when my little girl is a little older (I think couchsurfing/ers and babies might be a funny mix).

Interests

These things(and the books, films and music part below) are more than just passing interests, they are as much life as blood...but...Alpine hiking, architecture, wine, travelling, writing, reading, cooking, flowers, art, conservation and politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Sam Mendes, the Coppolas, Akira Kurasawa, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick or Roman Polanski directed films.

Music: Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Rolling Stones, Radiohead, John Coltrane, Bill Evans Trio, Miles Davis, Beatles, Lou Reed, Beethoven, Mozart, Berlioz, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Janes Addiction, Cat Stevens, PJ Harvey.

Books: Haruki Murakami, Peter Carey, Fydor Dostoyevsky, the Brontes, probably the classics all in all, with a few modern additions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most amazing thing seen/done? There are so many things that have moved me greatly. Seeing a sunset that was so brillaint that you could see brushstrokes in it as though God painted it as a masterpiece(and I do not believe in God, only art).

Seeing the manuscript for Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's 5th, a Caxton Bible, original manuscripts by Charlotte Bronte, Vules Verne, Martin Luther King, Einstein and Paul McCartney(Yesterday), all in one day.(plus a whole lot more, but I am making this concise)

Sitting atop Ayers Rock(Uluru) as a boy and feeling as though the universe stretched before me.

My first glimpse of another country as my plane touched down. Vietnam in floods of water and bicycles.

Finishing almost every book I have.(as I never finish crappy ones)

Holding the hand of somebody very very dear to me as she passed away.

And lastly, every single day I wake up!
