About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet people living in, or visiting Penang. To meet as many interesting people and see as many fascinating places as I can.

ABOUT ME

People who know me have commented that my profile looks a bit serious and doesn't really suit me. So just to let you know in advance - I'm not really a serious person! Now for my attempt at being serious:

I'm fascinated by people and society - very open-minded and easy to get along with.

Most beautiful country I've been to? Indonesia (West Sumatra - I love you!)

Favourite city - Ipoh. I miss it so :( But try to get back as often as I can.

I love Phnom Penh and the people of Cambodia really won my heart.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to see the good in ppl, I have never really known truly bad people - just good people who are prone to doing bad things! So I see everyone as good, with the potential of being bad.

In summary my personal philosophy is never judge anybody ... period.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really like meeting up with people and just hearing about what their part of the world (adopted or otherwise) means to them.

I've just moved to Penang, and my time is mostly taken up with work - but would be great to meet new people in the community and socialise a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met up with quite a few people - some of who have become good friends.

It's great to know that there are ppl out there who are so open to meeting up with new people! I've had a few surfers stay with me - and as a result my life has been enriched :-)

Interests

I've just added motorcycling to my latest interests :) Not a speed freak but enjoy a good ride! Along with the usual reading, swimming and trying to keep fit, I enjoy chilling out with friends and a bit of night life.

I love diving - but haven't got around to doing much recently. I love anything to do with arts and culture - especially dance and painting (although I don't do either myself!)

Interested in Boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - but prone to bit of 'tennis elbow' if I over train. My days of glory in those fields are long past!

Music, Movies, and Books

books - I love books!

Where to start! Everything from 'Philby of Arabia' to Development Economics'. I like biographies especially those where good shines out through evil - 'First they killed my father' by Loung Ung, 'Murder in the name of honour' by Rana Husseini, 'The Angel of Grozny' by Asne Seierstad, 'My war gone by, I miss it so' by Anthony Loyd. I read novels every now and then if they catch my attention.

Music: Almost everything with meaning, beat and lyrics.

Movies: Too many to mention. My all time favourites are 'Snatch', 'Goodfellas', Harold and Kumar (1 and 2 ... 3 was ok), I've seen these ones a dozen times each and still can watch over and over again.

TV: The Wire, The Sopranos, Walking Dead, Californication - I especially like the wire and Sopranos for the character development and the length of the series.
