Overview
About Me
I moved to Homer, Alaska in 2015, only planning to stay the summer, and haven't left yet! I have been a preschool teacher who enjoys farming in the summer, playing hockey in the winter, and adventuring outside year round. I'm about to an embark on a new adventure--becoming an electrician.
I like biking and telling stories through pictures. I am civically engaged and value gender and racial equity deeply. Lots of love for my home state of Minnesota and for experiencing new places! Oh and for my dog, Carl. :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think connecting with locals improves any traveling experience greatly. I love hearing about people's favorite spots and why they love the places they live. I also love sharing my home with people and hearing about the adventures that folks are on.
My main experience with couchsurfing was a few years ago when I used couch surfing while biking the length of the Mississippi River with a project called Fresh Forks. Our goal with Fresh Forks was to explore the future of food in America's heartland and encourage young people to pursue careers in food and farming. Couch surfing offered a great way to connect with people in communities along the way. And I am forever grateful for folks' hospitality!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My freshman year of college I went on my first ever backpacking trip. A group of friends and I drove overnight to Glacier National Park and the experience was nothing short of magical. It was a combination of great friends, beautiful landscapes, and carefree adventure. My friends with more expertise were incredibly supportive and I finished the trip feeling empowered and excited to plan the next.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love knowledge-sharing! I'm especially excited to talk about art, environmental justice, and food. I'm always eager to learn new recipes and gardening tips.
I'm happy to help out--from cleaning dishes to doing yard work. I'm also known to capture candid portraits of the people I spend time with.
I love dogs and kids! I'm happy to go on walks/runs, supervise, feed, teach, etc!
