COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted my first guests when I was still living in Russia...and after having moved back to Vienna in 2006, my Austrian couch, too, is available :)

I have made some wonderful couchsurfing experiences. One of the things that I like most about this way of travelling is that I have met many people that are quite different from myself in all kinds of ways and in other circumstances I might have never met them. This is extremely enriching.

Photography, travelling, various kinds of literature, hiking, fine cooking and eating, meeting people, going out...AND MOST OF ALL spending time with my wonderful family - my wife Thy and our son Thao (born 04/2009).

Some favourite authors are Amitav Ghosh, Nick Hornby, Houellebecq, Khaled Hosseini, Vladimir Kaminer...a favourite book is also Ali and Nino by the mysterious Kurban Said.

I also enjoy reading Ayn Rand and although I find her philosophy a bit naive it is very thought-provoking. I think it is always a good idea to read stuff that is not necessarily in line with one's own views about life/politics/society and thus to be challenged.

Aside from that I usually try understand more about the places that I am going to and therefore read a lot of books about culture, politics and history of various geographical areas.
