About Me

Hey you,

My name is Arseni. Im Belarusian, I was born in a small town called Grodno in a family of an Architect and an Engineer. Both of my parents are travellers and art-lovers, that's why I am probably who I am right now: a web designer in a day-time, illustrator by night, the one who travels 24/7. I love music a lot, that is the biggest addiction in my life, so Im always down to share some cool stuff or just to talk about it.

At the age of 16 I moved to Vilnius, Lithuania for my BA in graphic design. I used to say that Vilnius educated me even more than my uni: I learned how easy it is to be kind to one another, how great it is to meet strangers and talk and share experiences, and how happy I am when I travel.

Then I left Vilnius for my work in Moscow. It was a great change and I can tell you a lot about post soviet cities and people, if you are interested in it. Then I went to SE Asia for half a year and that was truly a life changing experience for me. I lived in Cambodia in a small town called Kampot. After travelling for around a year here and there, I moved back to Vilnius, found a job and live my calm life here, which is 420% fine for me.

I am super comfortable with talking as much as listening, laughing and joking as much as digging in and searching for the answers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think there is a willing to help and to be helped.

I used to host a lot of my friends and friends of friends in any city I had been living to, just because they needed a shelter and I love to meet nice strangers and give advise and recommendations about the place I live in if needed.

Being a coucher is a vice versa: you are at a side of those who needed to be helped. You explore a new city and who can help you most than a local, with all the secret places and spots and bars and all the other things. If you are lucky enough you are getting a great chance to meet a kind person or even a friend.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like talking about music. I am super interested in trying to dig in the lyrics and sounds.
I started to go to music festivals at the age of 18, so I cultivated a strong passion to the life in tents, music concerts and meeting people of same passion by now. I like psychedelic rock of a past as much as current-one most, but I am actually comfortable with almost all kinds of music. I jumped to Asap Rocky concert and lied on the ground to Sigur Ros, felt nostalgic on Placebo, euphoric on Moderat and in love on The XX and very tripping on Massive Attack, and I truly loved all of them. So if you are a festival lover - we always have something to talk about together.

There are cinema industry I feel pretty comfortable to talk about too. I can't choose few favourite movies, as for different periods of my life there are different ones of them. I like pondering after watching as well as just checking some shitty comedies and laughing.
What I really like is documentaries, especially about history of the planet and nations. TV shows just started to grab my attention, but there are already some I like a lot, which are Sense8, Mr. Robot and Daria.

There is quite a huge gap in fiction and literature, as I didn't read that much being a child, but I am working on it. Besides, I know quite some nice academic stuff about cities and urbanism and always feel open to learn more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped in nature of Bretagne for two months alone (and didn't get caught)
Cycled few weeks from Luxembourg to Brussels
Get caught by police for drinking on a rooftop of my own high-school
Survived a tropical storm rain in a jungle electronic music festival in Cambodia
