About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I feel that I want to reevaluate and rediscover the way I travel. And to understand why I travel. I want to discover the charm, mystery and uncertainty of traveling and adventures - the way it was back in the gold old days when traveling was an exception rather than a rule.
At the same time I want to develop my communication skills. When I meet someone and spend time with them, I want a real, genuine experience. Deep interaction and valuable memories. (Of course, I do understand that it is not always possible but let's strive to achieve that)
ABOUT ME
I like to think of myself as a good example of Lithuanian/Northern introvert character. Calm, a bit shy, silent and reserved. Yet friendly, curious, adventurous and caring deep down. If you're not discouraged by my calm and silent character, then I'd be happy to get to know you :)
So I am a kind of person, who usually prefers listening and observing to talking. But also walking, doing, moving over staying still (doesn't mean that I don't enjoy lazy moments though). I would prefer a walk in the forest or city over evening in bar (though I'd like to learn to appreciate the bar culture as well). I enjoy the silent and calm beauty of clouds floating through the sky, tree leaves rustling in the wind and the sound of flowing water.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travel and look for hosts, who could share their culture with me. I also host people now and then to lend them a roof over their head and introduce Lithuanian culture and Vilnius.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Greece, Finland, Scotland, Japan, Italy, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Taiwan - wherever you go, there are always nice people you can trust, willing to share their warmth with you :) And I'm willing to do the same once in a while
Interests
I am interested in traditional cultures of people around the world.
I guess my main area of interest is their spiritual and religious lives, their faith and belief systems, as well as all sorts of superstitions, folks tales and things of that sort.
I am very interested in traditional arts and crafts and though in no way am I good at any of them, I'd really love to try something. I think it is one of the best methods for getting to know the culture directly.
Of course, my greatest love and interest is Japan and its rich and vast traditional culture and religion. I'm very interested in the Japanese traditional way of life and their world view, as well Japanese aesthetics, arts, crafts, philosophy and... Pretty much everything else about Japan. My main object of interest at the moment is a Japanese mountain religion, called Shugendo.
The other half of me is completely and hopelessly in love with nature. Hiking, camping, mountain climbing, trail running.... I want to try and do every and any nature - active lifestyle related activity. Just name it :)
I also do enjoy good movies, interesting books and music - take me to a concert or I will take you, if I can.
And of course! Of course! People! Good company! Adventurous spirits and deep conversations. Why else are we here ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoy listening to blues, funk, swing, rock'n'roll, balkan, rock, classical and many other styles of music. Recently I'm slowly discovering electronic, post punk other kinds of modern music. I'm a bit reserved but ready to explore. I'm also very interested in traditional music of different cultures.
Talking about books or rather authors - Hesse, I think, is my favourite. Axel Munthe's "The Story of San Mikele" is probably my favourite book. Other than that: Antoine de Saint-Egzupery, Romain Gary, Hemingway, J.R.R. Tolkien, Thomas Mann...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I've ever seen was the world... Yeah... It is amazing....
