About Me

Hello Hello!
I am a young scientist, I majored in Physiology and Neuroscience at UCSD and plan on finishing a Masters in Biology from the same university! I am academically interested in genetics, microbiology, and ecology.
I have worked as a field biologist, laboratory technician, and a veterinary assistant.
I grew up in a multicultural home- my Father is Mexican while my Mother is from Barcelona- and I am very glad have been granted the opportunity to explore live near the Mediterranean.
I have a deep interest in learning more about the world- be it through science or through cultural exchanges.
I really enjoy writing free-lance poetry, but the inspiration only bursts during unexpected times.
I had the honor of meeting the Dalai Lama this summer during his visit to UCSD, and he is probably the most impressive person I have met during my lifetime.
I grew up in many cities around Mexico, and have now settled in California.... for now....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm taking courses in Greece this summer, and I will be traveling for a few weeks around the Greek islands during July to get the most out of my experience in Hellas! I want to learn about the cities I visit from locals, and I want to spend time understanding the culture and the lifestyles. I greatly appreciate meeting people from different cultures, mindsets, and backgrounds.

Music, Movies, and Books

I do not have a favorite color- it all depends what the chosen color is for!
This also describes my "Favorite Music" ...
I know for a fact I deeply enjoy relaxing beats like Reggae, Funk or Jazz.
I highly appreciate creativity when it comes to musical composition- from Tool to Cultura Profetica. I enjoy electronic music, acoustic songs, songs with or without lyrics...
I like music meant for dancing and for hanging out.
And of course I like the classics like Led Zeppelin and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived on a research boat in the Pacific Ocean for half a month, working as a research scientist & fishing at night.
I have fished about 7 yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) with my own rod, which was pretty amazing considering that this fish is known for its speed and endurance!
I know this may not sound as impressive... but I can get a Jeep out of the sand dunes after it's gotten really stuck.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have studied Ecology, Spanish Literature, Physiology, Neuroscience, Genetics, etc...
When I am home in California, I attend school and provide independent tutoring for students learning Spanish, English or Science.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share many stories and experiences from the people I have met, the places I've been, and the things I have studied- or we can talk about worldly topics such as culture, politics, social justice!
My friends often make fun of me because I literally can make friends with anyone.
