About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet new people. Learn new things.
ABOUT ME
I have an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
Give me good walking shoes and a wine/beer/cup of tea at the end of the day and I will conquer the world.
I like debating with thoughtful people over the local libation wherever I end up. Food, music, literature, funny internet videos, the nature of humanity, it's all fair game.
Also, my new love (besides travel) is roller derby. I've trained with the Van Dieman Rollers, Tasmania, and the Murder City Roller Girls, Adelaide. You can call me Flo (Florence Fightingale) if you like.
PHILOSOPHY
- There's more to living than being alive.
- Do one thing everyday that scares you.
-Everyone shines, given the right lighting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There are good people everywhere, it makes no difference where you come from.
I'm interested in how people end up where they are, and more importantly, what makes them stay.
Interests
Reading, movies, musicals, music, drinking with friends, travel, adventures, getting lost in cities where I don't speak the language. Anything that will make a great story goes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies:
Comedies, historical dramas, anything with a good soundtrack.
A few of my go-to's are: The Imitation Game, Pride, Pitch Perfect, Juno.
Music:
LP, Chvrches, Florence & The Machine, M83, Sia, Gypsy & The Cat, Imagine Dragons, Tame Impala, Arcade Fire, Cat Empire, Taylor Swift, U2, Megan Washington, most musicals and Disney movie soundtracks, whatever I'm in the mood for. Tim Minchin writes a mean musical.
Books:
Any good, human story.
A few of my favourites are The Book Thief, People of the Book, I'll Give You the Sun, The Silver Sword, Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Year of Wonders.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once made a triple layer epic peanut butter chocolate cake for my housemate's birthday.
I went to New York and saw 5 Broadway shows in a week.
I got lost in a Montenegrin national park and made friends with a Swiss couple and their dog.
Teach, Learn, Share
Just because you can't speak, doesn't mean you have nothing to say.
Figuring out humanity one connection at a time.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking, as it usually precedes eating. I love to learn about new foods, new drinks, and new skills involving both. Happy to cook/clean up/share a meal.
I can talk passionately and at length about current speech pathology issues.
I can belt out Defying Gravity quite loudly.
If you have a guitar or ukulele, I can probably bash out a tune or two.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
Australia, Germany, Hong Kong
