About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Save the world...or just see as much of it before it caves in under the weight of so many hooligans

ABOUT ME

Such a little box for describing a person...I suppose I could sum it up in three words:
Quixotic Astral Pragmatist

Ok, maybe that doesn't quite paint the total picture. I enjoy being outside on sunny, beautiful days. I love listening to music, going to live music shows, strumming the guitar and singing, playing disc golf (a.k.a. hippy golf), speaking in tongues, having a few drinks with good folk, cooking delicious, healthy, vegetarian foods, boogying down, and just enjoying life.

I work hard to get where I'm going, though I don't always know where that is. Meeting new people who are willing to share a moment is magic. I actually enjoyed being in school and learning, though I enjoy learning by living more.

PHILOSOPHY

No regrets

"I've never had a dream in my life because a dream is what you want to do but still haven't pursued. I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done, so I've been the dream that I wanted to be since day one." - Aesop Rock

"What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds. When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road."
-William Least Heat-Moon

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Crashing on couches, meeting travelers and sharing good times. I did a lot of couchsurfing in Latin America back in 2009/2010. I also lived in a couchsurfing haven in Chicago for a year where we hosted heaps of surfers (sometimes up to 8 at a time and rarely a day without a guest)!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Good previous experiences...

Whether surfing on a couch or meeting other CSers out and about, I have had nothing but fantastic experiences. As I like to say, "Good times, great oldies."

Interests

Music, guitar, singing, outdoors, foreign languages (especially Spanish and Portuguese), interesting people, making people smile and chuckle and laugh hysterically, poetry, sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, aquaponics, urban agriculture, permaculture, helping people, the world at large or the universe in my head, self-improvement....like yoga and yogurt and stuff. I'm interested in lots of things, really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the Camino de Santiago: 500 miles from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. It took me 5 weeks. It changed me, as all powerful experiences do.

Crossing the Andes at sunset hitchiking in a truck loaded to the top with firewood after 2 days trek to Machu Picchu.

Dispatch "The Last Dispatch" free outdoor concert in Boston summer 2004 - over 100,000 people!!

Tool at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee 2007 - complete sensory overload!

Surviving adventure and naivety in Chile summer 2004 (when rogue waves and cliffs collide; escaping down giant sand dunes in Con Con; passing out on late-night buses, etc...)

Teach, Learn, Share

First believe you can do it, then do it. Even if you fail, you will learn priceless lessons.
