Overview
About Me
My name is Cillian Mitchell (Hard C) and I am 21 years old. I'm currently in my third year at Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington and I am taking a semester off to travel around Europe. I grew up in Galway, Ireland until I was 9 and then moved to San Diego, California. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively growing up, but now its time for me to do some on my own. I am a history major at my college so I will probably be nerding out at museums across Europe. I am also presumptive General Manager for Whitman's radio station, KWCW so naturally I am very into music and will be exploring the music scene across Europe.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently found out that I had more college credits than I previously thought which has allowed me to take a whole semester off and travel around Europe. Ive always found with my previous travel that I never have enough time to really get to know the culture in each city/country. Now that I have 5 months free to explore Europe, I figured Couchsurfing would be the best way to get to know the locals and culture intimately, not just the people who host, but also the people they introduce to me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge fan of all electronic music, especially progressive house, trans, and trap. Although I will pretty much go to any concert there is. Same goes for my movie tastes, as long as the movie is well made I will probably love it. I have watched hundreds of movies and would love to sit down a watch a few with anyone. This may be less popular, but I mostly just read about history and historical events. I love history (obviously why I am a history major) and can spend hours reading about different cultures and societies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked half dome in Yosemite at night and watched the sunrise 9,000 feet up.
I have also walked along the Great Wall of China.
Teach, Learn, Share
I will be spending these 5 months learning about the rich history that Europe has had, but in my mind, the best way to learn is to discuss the history with the locals who have lived it. I am using couchsurfer to get a more indepth history of each country rather than just learning it from a book. I am happy to share any of my knowledge and hopefully we can all feel like we learned from the experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I absolutely love cooking and would be more than happy to cook food where ever I stay in exchange for a couch or floor to sleep on. This sounds cheesy but hopefully I can also share a great attitude and good outlook on life with my own hosts and give them a different perspective on their city.
