About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm a vegan mayan mexican, looking forward to exchange culture, experiences, ideas, to discover new places and people. And why not? I'm also here to make new friends. Peace

ABOUT ME

Few years ago I left Mexico to discover what's on the other side of the ocean, since then I've been going far and more far away from home. Now I can't stop discovering new countries, new cultures, new people. It makes me realize that friends are hidden in every corner of the world and that "home" could be found anywhere. As I travel strangers become friends and friends become family. I've learned to live fast but enjoying every second and having always in mind that people are not defined by their nationality nor the language they speak nor their physical appearance but as the unique individual that they are.

PHILOSOPHY

Learning from the past, living only the present, but always looking forward to the future.

Living with respect to the environment and all the living beings that share this planet with us; trying to be better versions of us.

If not us, who? and if not now, when?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I first joined Couchsurfing, it is the way I want to travel. Both couchsurfing and hosting have always been an adventure on its own: meeting people, listening to their story and sharing their culture make you feel alive, it makes me feel part of something bigger than us.

So this is what we are looking for when hosting or being hosted, to exchange experiences, skills, cultures, abilities, stories: to leave something where we pass by or with the people we encounter and to take with us a piece from where we go and from the people we met.

Interests

I love dancing, discovering new food flavors, listening to other people's own life experiences. I also feel this growing need to always keep moving and learning something different. And I'm a science lover so I will always want to know "why". I love all kind of handcrafts and antiques, those treasures hidden in plain sight with a story that started before us and that will end after us.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love movies, but my favorite ones are those that make you think with a complex plot, those that get to introduce you a message or an idea at the end of the film: Cloud atlas, Riddick, The tree of life, El laberinto del fauno, El hijo de la novia, The revenant.

Music: I like all kind of music, I believe that life moments come in different flavors and so, the music that goes along with them cannot be always the same, but adapted to every different moment in life. But if I have to choose, I think that my favorite type of music is the alternative-indie-rock type, around that.

Books: I'm not a great fan of books as I can never wait to know the end of a story, so I always cheat and I read the end of the books before reading the middle of the plot. I know, I know, I'm so a book cheater u.u

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paragliding.
Being 4 days in a small charming no-cellphone-signal island.
Being offshore.
Organizing a hot-air-balloon festival.
Being in the cold north of France, suddenly wanting to be in the hot south coast of France, so 4 hours later, taking a ride-sharing with some stranger to get to the south for a great sunny week.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some Maya language which I could teach with pleasure.
Right now I'm really into vegan cooking, I have been experimenting with new ingredients, flavors, textures, colors, so if you love to eat, I can cook you a vegan feast. Me and my boyfriend already have our own "speciality" recipes for desserts, starters and main dishes.

I have an organic and permacutlure garden with my boyfriend, so if that is something that you have been willing to try, I'd be more than happy to share with you tips, experiences, and why not, I could help you start your own garden project.
I also play the violin and I would love to learn how to play the saxophone.

I'm from the the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, which is in the Caribbean, since I was little I loved to go kayaking and snorkeling around the coral reefs, and what I would like to learn now is to scuba dive, and then I would like to go scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Right now I'm learning to do climbing, the next step would learn to do ice climbing, and then do it in Iceland, with an aurora borealis over me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

For the couchsurfer staying with us:

We recently started to do yoga to relax and stretch, and we do indoors and outdoors climbing, my boyfriend does a lot of cycling around the small villages around the village of Sandford, we also like to go swimming in the local sport center (the pool there is usually almost empty if you like to swim) or if the weather is good, there are lakes and rivers where we like to go for a swim.

We also like to go canoeing along the Exe river, it's quite nice, on one way, you can get into the nature and on the other way, into the city and if you feel enthusiastic you could even get to the sea.

Every time we can, we love to go hiking and camping (recently we camped in Dartmoor, now we're planning to go up to Wales for a camping/hiking/canoeing tour).
