À propos de moi

"She who travels light, travels happily" - it's a great motto to stick by. I've been to 35+ countries and counting!

I work in the non profit sector and I also work in the area of mental health research. When not working, I support local theatre and buying local and supporting social.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing back in 2007 (after 2 backpacking trips, before would have been smarter!) and didn't use it throughout my twenties and I wish I did. Have had some amazing experiences since and wanting to give back.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

There are 3 things that come to mind that a travel related:

An amazing over night hike to visit the rice terraces in the Philippines before the typhoon in 2009. Met a local on our hike who ended up being our guide (my friend, who I also randomly met that morning, knew how to speak Tagalog and after 4+ hours of hiking together we all became friends. He showed all the backcountry routes! Drank homemade wine with a couple grannys who were born "during the harvest moon" many moons ago. The newfound guide was so kind to kill one of his chickens for us for breakfast!

Snuck onto the Great Wall of China through a back route because I joking around with a taxi driver. He even drove us up and showed us how the local sneak up.

Befriended some locals on the island of Eua in Tonga. They invited me to their local church on Sunday because they were changing pastors. It was a huge celebration. There were two pit roasted suckling pigs! The whole village was there and it was a major event to welcome in and say goodbye to the pastors.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

My world revolves around food and drinks. Need a local coffee roaster? Local dessert place? Great craft brews? Local distilleries? Or local food? Vancouver is great place to explore culinary delights!
