Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i've been a member since 2010. it's a nice way to meet like minded or interesting people and exchange culture and make friends.

Interests

always looking for a nice conversation or someone i get along with. good company is a good time.

i enjoy 35mm film photography, cycling, all types of sports, music, language and art.

i like real and genuine things. increasingly hard to find in a modern world where everything is made of plastic and cardboard.

Music, Movies, and Books

many types of music and always listening to new styles. i frequently listen to and enjoy things i've never heard before. currently listening to cachao, samba, piero umuliani, miles davis, townes van zandt.

many books. war and peace, tender is the night, candide, and catch-22, among others.

i don't really watch tv or movies anymore. but a couple movies i watched this year that i rate highly: days of being wild by wong kar wai and only yesterday by isao takahata.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

a few highlights. the ganges and mekong rivers, the himalayan and andes mountains, angkor wat and ayuthhaya, cycled through patagonia and vietnam, played football in seven countries, traveled to 41/50 u.s. states, a dozen usa national parks, many thousands of kilometers of road trips by car and motorcycle.

i've lived in vietnam a long time now so i've got some knowledge of hcmc and vietnam. otherwise - a good ear, good vibes, and a story or two.
