About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To conquer the world (or at least see it)

ABOUT ME

I'm a recent graduate living in New York! I'm interested in film making and computer science (very different fields, I know). I'm easy-going, funny, and very laid back. I have never met someone I didn't like, so as long as you're decent, I'll be decent too!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in being open, honest, and decent to everyone. I'm very interested in Eastern philosophy, and though I wouldn't call myself a Buddhist, I wholeheartedly endorse and practice meditation as well as limitless compassion (kind of hard sometimes, though!) A mentor of mine once told me that the only thing that really bothers people when they're old is regrets for things they didn't do. So live without regrets! Constructively, of course.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate as much as I can. I think its a wonderful tool to link people together and create a strong sense of international community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My sister and I couchsurfed in Europe, and we stayed with fellow couchsurfer Daniel Forder. He was a great host for us, and it was an incredible experience. There's really no substitute for traveling with somebody who not only knows the area very well, but is also quite friendly and helpful.

Interests

Computer science, filmmaking, philosophy, short story writing, movies, video games, rowing, art history, architecture, psychology, European history, anything stimulating.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have a very eclectic taste in music. Some bands I am currently listening to are: Coheed and Cambria, Blonde Redhead, Laura Veirs, Aimee Mann, Dance Gavin Dance, The Fall of Troy, Circa Survive, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Rx Bandits, Yoko Kanno

Movies: I love many different types of movies, but I'm kind of a geek so I prefer science fiction movies: Batman Begins, Donnie Darko, 28 Days Later, American Psycho, On the Waterfront, The Matrix trilogy, etc.

Books: I'm currently reading Freakonomics, The Mother Tongue, Dry, and a few authors I generally enjoy are Hemingway, Tobias Wolff, Flannery O'Connor, Steinbeck, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh wow. This is a hard question to answer. Well, one time when I was in Cancun with my family we saw the Equinox at Chichen Itza. If you're unfamiliar with the event, the pyramid is arranged geographically in such a way that at a certain time in the calendar (once a year, I believe) the sun lights up the top of the pyramid and a shadow of snakes runs down the pyramid walls. Very cool experience, I highly recommend it if you're in Cancun when it happens. Although I would suggest that you keep track of your personal belongings, as there was a huge crowd when we went and my father's wallet was stolen!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
