About Me

I'm an adventurous and laid-back person. I want to experience as much of the world as possible, which entails travelling to unfamiliar places around the world, trying strange food, experiencing culture as purely as possible, having fun, making friends, and creating as many unique experiences as possible.

Aside from travelling, I love to run; I've been running competitively for 10 years over 800m-5000m distances.
I also love hiking, cycling and enjoying nature in general.
Sometimes I like to go swimming in the winter.
And I enjoy a nice beer in the evening.
I prefer to eat vegan, but compromise for cultural experience or free food sometimes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Locals know things that are not easily realised by visitors, hence they can give a truly unique insight into the local experience. I also know unique things about the places I've visited and lived. This platform facilitates the special opportunity to exchange the unique life experiences, ideas, and culture of both the local person and the visitor.

Interests

I love being outside in general.
Aside from working on research. I spend a lot of time outside running, cycling, or hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am definitely a beat-head. I love jazzy 90's hip-hop and boom-bap. Some of my favourite artists are 2Pac, Nas, Isaiah Rashad, WunTwo, FloFilz. Some of my favourite groups are Radio Juicy and Soulection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked Mount Fuji through the night in freezing rain on the longest trail (Gotemba) in 5 hours. I arrived way too early to the summit, and freezingly slept on the ground until before sunrise. I watched the sunrise from rock perched on the edge of the caldera and enjoyed my celebratory Sapporo beer, as I basked above the clouds in the heat of the returning sunlight.

In the Thar Desert, I rode a camel into the sunset while having bhang. I slept around a bonfire in the nook of a sand dune, with the sky clear enough to see the Milky Way and comets. I woke up early and rode the camel back as the sun rose.

I lived as a Buddhist monk for a week in Chiang Mai.

In Kanchanaburi, I swam in turquoise water at Erawan Falls while getting a natural fish pedicure.

I earned BS and MS degrees in aerospace engineering with magna cum laude honour in 4 years total. It was tough!

I know a lot about running technique, injury prevention and treatment, and nutrition; everything relating to distance running has been my obsession for 10 years.
