About Me

Hey all! I'm Chuck.

In my 20's I did a lot of traveling and relied on the kindness of many strangers to have some amazing experiences. Now, in my 30's, with a home of my own, I'm happy to open it up to people in the CS community. I'm also fairly new to Santa Fe, so I'm still exploring everything it has to offer, but I've had good times taking surfers to Santa Fe Brewing Co (for excellent tacos and beer), checking out petroglyphs on some local hiking trails, and was even introduced to the Jemez Hot Springs by a surfer who knew more about Santa Fe than I did haha (and I will use any excuse to go back there...amazing!).

I live with 2 dogs who don't understand personal space (so if you don't like dogs, you might not enjoy your stay hah). No need to sleep on my couch- surfers get their own guest room and bathroom.

I usually enjoy hanging out with surfers, but it's not always possible due to my hectic work schedule. But, with enough notice, I can usually move things around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've couch surfed officially in Australia and had the awesome experience of sleeping on boats, private guest rooms, and common rooms. I met awesome people and had absolutely no negative experiences! I also unofficially couch surfed all throughout Africa and stayed in a range of places: from extremely nice, expensive embassy houses- to literally small mud huts.

I never really have expectations except that people are chill and respect one another =].

Interests

I truly enjoy photography and making short films.

I love wildlife and nature. Hiking, camping, trailblazing, geocaching...if it's outdoors, I probably like it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Andrew McMahon; Jurassic Park; anything Michael Crichton wrote.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer for two years; I lived in Zambia in a very rural setting (no electricity, plumbing, etc). It greatly shaped my life- not necessarily making me appreciate everything in America...but making me realize how much stuff I don't really need/want! It also instilled a desire to meet people from around the world- not only visit areas, but actually get to know the people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Netherlands, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, United States, Zambia
