I'm never sure how to start these things, so here goes.

I am 27 years old and I spent the past 9 years of my life pursuing a career in the field of engineering in an extremely small town in Michigan. About 2 years into a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and a brief stint as a research engineer at the Army Research Laboratory, I decided that spending my life in a lab was not for me. Subsequently, I have decided to travel the world on a journey of self-discovery and hopefully find somewhere/something that I can spend my life doing (or possibly just find out that I will be a nomad for the rest of my life).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I am traveling Europe for the foreseeable future and I would love to meet with some interesting people along the way.

Interests

I love doing anything that involves the outdoors. I love to hike, climb, camp, and explore in general. I also enjoy bicycling, motorcycling, fishing, and SCUBA Diving

In the winter, I spend most of my free time snowboarding and snowshoeing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered for 8 months as a SCUBA diver on a small island off of Malaysian Borneo. During this time I helped to replant coral reefs damaged by blast fishing, as well as protecting the local Green Turtle populations from poachers.
