About Me
ABOUT ME
Hi there my name's Chris, my main claim to fame is for holding the Guinness World record for being the youngest person alive. Unfortunately I only held this record for a couple of minutes, but I still occasionally live off the glory of this achievement. My life's been a less wilder ride since then, I've settled into adult life, took up a respectable job and thrown myself headfirst into the 9 to 5.
I was born in Indonesia, but grew up in Australia through my formative years. I also spent a year living in Southern Africa, and another year living in Brazil, which were both real eye openers in very different ways.
I live in Summer Hill which is about 15 minutes from the Sydney CBD. It's a nice little spot, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, without being too far removed from all the pleasant sights that Sydney has to offer.
When I'm not working, I'm usually playing rugby during Sydney's humid winters, cricket during the summer, having a beer at an inner west pub, or walking around the neighbourhood while drinking a coffee.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've done my fair share of dabbling in the couchsurfing community, both as a surfer and a host. Unfortunately, I've rarely had a permanent abode, and have taken a few hiatuses, but quality not quantity right?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had some great experiences on here..........and some interesting ones as well. The great ones definitely stand out though, and it's why I try to surf and host as often as I can .
Interests
I have a few, I cycle and dabble through many but there have been a few consistent ones over the years so I'll name just a couple:
- Rugby, I blame my dad for this one, he passed down his passion for the game onto myself when I was growing up and I still play this very day!
- Cooking: I wouldn't say I'm a masterchef, but if there's a certain dish you like, why not learn to make it!
- Photography: I'm currently learning this one, trying to improve the technical aspects of my skills, and trying to get as much inspiration as I can.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'd like to think I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and I listen to a lot of different genres. Rather than name my favourite bands I'm just going to press shuffle on my Spotify, and name the 5 songs that come up at this very moment:
- "The War On Drugs - Red Eyes"
- "Elbow - Grounds for Divorce"
- "The Charlatans - The Only One I Know"
- "The Thrills - The Midnight Choir"
- "Travelling Wilburys - Handle with care"
Favourite movies, I have so many, off the top of my head: The Godfather (1 and 2), Shawshank Redemption, Snatch, The Matrix, Chinatown, Dangal, Lord of the rings
Books: 1984 - George Orwell, Harry Potter,
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm going to choose 3:
- I once got called a dickhead 5 times in one day from 5 different people, 2 of whom I didn't know personally and all from different incidents and all unintentional.
- Travelled on an overcrowded sailing boat in torrential rain and what must have been 6 foot waves in Mozambique.
- Hitchiking along the East Coast from Sydney to Melbourne and not getting murdered
Teach, Learn, Share
I can cook an overly spicy Thai green curry, and teach you to make an equally spicier one
What I Can Share with Hosts
The usual affair, a few stories shared over various choices of alcohol, horrendous karaoke versions of your favourite songs, and maybe some horrible puns.
