Hi, I'm American but I grew up in Tokyo with my family and moved back to Portland, Oregon when I was 14.

Now, I'm a doctoral student at Stanford and I'm currently working on a thesis to understand how people use social media to meet other people. What motivates them, and how safe are online encounters.
This research has many parts but the focus of the first part is to understand how women react when they are traveling. I have a certain theory in mind and if that is proved correct, then I won't need to pursue other leads, and this part will be conclusive for Couchsurfing purposes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet fellow couchsurfers and discuss their experiences. Maybe I'll use couchsurfing when I travel to Europe next year!
But now I'm on Couchsurfing for purely academic purposes. I hope people will help me understand more about their interactions with other surfers.
