About Me
Hi there!
I'm Claire, a 24 yo girl currently living in la Roche-sur-Yon, in France. There, I'm doing a "service civique" as a Reporter. Before that, I lived two years in Spain, in Zaragoza, as a french and English tutor for both kids and adults. I live with my boyfriend, a Spanish boy whose name is Juan, working as a Freelance Web Redactor. We both love meeting new people from all over the world and we're particularly interested in languages and cultures.
I grew up in a little town near Perpignan, the biggest city of the Pyrenees-Orientales (if you don't know where it is, let's just say in the very south of France, just above Spain). I completed my bachelor there, before moving to Finland to do my erasmus on the last term. After that, I spent a year in London as an aupair. Eventually, I came back to France at Toulouse to do my first year of Master before moving to Spain for two years. Now, I'm once again back to France but upper in the North, ready to struggle against the coldness and the rain ;).
So as you can see, I am very keen on traveling and living abroad. I like to undertake new challenges, like coming to Spain without knowing a word of Spanish :p
I'm an open-minded and easy-going person, not especially talkative but who loves to share ideas and experiences. I'm very curious, every topic can catch my attention, even if there are many areas where my knowledge is quite limited.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We used to have a spare room in Zaragoza but unfortunately, for now we can't host anyone. Nonetheless, being on couch surfing is a simple way to meet interesting people from different parts of the world and from various backgrounds while traveling, people with whom I'm pretty sure we have many centers of interest in common. So we'd be glad to meet up with anyone who'd like to!
Interests
I like reading, all kind of literature (historical books, classics, fantasy...). During my spare time, I usually read a book, look at the news, watch videos on youtube, documentaries or movies. I also try to study languages when I got free time or if I'm feeling up to. I've taken up drawing a few weeks ago.
I like going to the cinema, very rarely to the theatre, meeting up with my friends and traveling on a low budget.

Music, Movies, and Books
It's quite impossible for me to choose a favorite movie or book, as I like many. "The sun also rises" from Ernest Hemingway is among my favorites, for instance. I'm mostly listening to pop and rock music (old school bands and singers like Elvis Presley or the Beatles). Regarding movies, I like dramas and historical films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done wwoofing in the U.K two summers on a row and on last summer, I did something similar through a website called "Helpx"; which happened to be a great experience, something I hugely recommend to anyone wanting to test a different way of traveling. On last summer, I've travelled doing hitchhiking with my boyfriend; we crossed 8 countries and caught 70 cars in total.
I'm also pretty proud to say that when living in Finland I had the immense privilege to dive into the Arctic Ocean and to see the Northern lights :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be glad to teach some French, English or Spanish to anyone willing to!I'm not a chef but I like cooking and I'd love to share meals, to find out about cooking from other countries. In general, to exchange about any topic !
