About Me

I am a recent university graduate on the move. I like to live my life in a way that constantly adds to my personal development. Meeting new people, visiting new places, understanding the large spectrum of ways people live their lives. Traveling is one of my favorite ways to explore that journey. I started traveling internationally at the ripe age of 13 - a trip to rural Mexico on a sort of charitable mission. I stuck with that avenue of seeing much of my country and astoundingly beautiful yet heart-breaking parts of the world until I graduated from secondary school. It was at university in Vermont that I started traveling more to add to my own bank of experiences. Travel has always been a central focus of my life - do I have enough money to travel again? Where haven't I been yet? Who wants to go with me?

I am currently on my latest adventure - living in London and traveling around Europe, filling in the gaps of what I missed when I lived in Spain.

Italy > Croatia > Montenegro > Spain > France > Greece > Germany > Austria > Hungary > Sweden > Home!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS only recently to start seeing new places in a new way. Last I was in Europe, it was weekends abroad with friends on a mission to party and be out as late as possible. Needless to say, my priorities have shifted and I want a more personable experience. I want to see places through someone else's lenses. I want to build connections and friendships that will last longer than a ridiculous night at a hostel. I want to see how people live and respect their home, in hopes of being able to reciprocate that service when I finally return home.

Interests

Working in restaurants since university started as a way to make plenty of money to be used on adventures. I ended up learning an overwhelming amount about food, wine, beer - and absolutely adore it. I love cooking, eating other people's culinary creations, enjoying fine wine and the history behind it, and all the complex ways beer can qualify as beer.

I also love good coffee and all the things to be watched while drinking good coffee - people, dogs, trees, etc.

Beaches and water hold a dear place in my heart, being from California. I just can't get enough.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Radiohead with all of my being. But when I can't see my favorite band play, I like dodgy clubs and dive bars and grungy music and people down to get down. I'm just about never not down to drink some drinks and hear some music.

I'm more of a TV show person myself, but movies are good too...

Reading I like to do for information, less so for pleasure. But I'm always chiseling away at some read here and there - something non-fiction based, something suspenseful, something that holds my attention but can simultaneously put me to sleep if I so desire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I pet a baby elephant.. softer than you might think.

Teach, Learn, Share

If ever you are trying to learn the ins and outs of political systems, random knowledge about the universe, bits and bops of philosophy, art history - usually contemporary and modern, or hear some ridiculous stories about my family and my upbringing; I'd love to share!

I have a wide range of subject interest, and I know everyone else does too, so let's exchange.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We'll chat, we'll walk around, we'll get coffee, we'll see modern art, we'll try delicious beers, we'll cook, we'll do it all!

In my mind, couchsurfing is a community of travelers helping travelers. We open our homes to those wandering around the world because we ourselves have wandered. We have wanted to meet people and learn from them, all the while having a comfortable place to stay given that we are not creatures made of money. I am happy to discuss compensation for hosts, be it in a bit of money or by me providing the beer :)
