About Me

*I don't really have time to host at the moment, but hopefully will soon :) *

I'm 31, work as a press and comms manager and live in Belfast ... I love music, cooking vegan food, the north coast, hiking, good books, and a load of hippy dippy generic over the top stereotypical guff that will probably make you want to hate me, but I definitely don't take myself too seriously. In a past life I was a pagan, not sure what I am now.

I'm part of a collective and together we volunteer-run a vegan cafe - in a city like Belfast it's sometimes hard to find your community, but I think we bring people together - it's pretty great! I also like to put on events like film nights and culture evenings.

I also volunteer as part of the organisation, Refugees Welcome - here I am responsible for organising events and helping out with PR.

I use to be a journalist, so sometimes I struggle with working in the corporate world - I use my free time to be as creative as possible and gather up as many interesting stories as I can.

I love travelling and having lived along the Kinabatangan River in Borneo would love further adventures ... maybe to Peru or somewhere similar in South America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to meet people with a similar mindset to me - people who appreciate nature, the simple things and enjoy life :)
I've hosted some amazing people who have honestly changed my life - some I now consider to be my dearest friends and that kind of connection is pretty rare - it's amazing how you find like-minded souls so easily.

Interests

I like to keep balanced ... so anything from being out in nature, to yoga, to listening to good music.
I'm also keen on vegan cooking (especially baking as I consider it a challenge!) drawing cartoons, crafting (making candles, knitting, crocheting, embroidering), making zines, being out in the outdoors (I adore being by the sea, stark landscapes, hugging trees, being by a fire and staring at the moon). I use to horse-ride, kayak, ski and surf .. and would love to find more time to incorporate these into my life! (I know, excuses)
I'm fascinated by history (French Revolution, Cold War, catastrophes in general) and geology and always keen to learn more.
I don't really like going out to pubs/clubs anymore ... unless they are old man pubs! But I love to dance and try to get to ecstatic dance at least once a month (or organise my own with friends) it's class!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Hesse, Bukowski, Orwell, Sylvia Plath, Ayn Rand (I know, I know), Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Music: Female artists at the moment, so a lot of Chelsea Wolfe, Emma Ruth Rundle, PJ Harvey, Grouper - also throw in some doom, folk and drone

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Broke my leg and didn't even know it was broken. (I'm that hardcore)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you how to write in shorthand - then you can be a spy (sorta)
or I can teach you some vegan baking or how to knit!

If someone wants to come and teach me how to pickle something delicious or create something beautiful (screenprinting would be amazing), that would be great too
