Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Claire and I am a 19 year old gap year student planning to study computer science and engineering next fall. I love to travel, meet other people, and learn about other cultures and ways of life. With the pandemic, I switched around my plans this year and had an internship at a technology training company while I also took online classes in web design, web development, graphic design, and animation/cinematography. This extra time to myself has allowed me to reflect on my life and where I want to go, and I’m very excited to travel in order to learn even more about myself and others!! I am very independent, respectful, and enjoy putting myself in situations where I will be challenged because I always learn a ton. I’m very easygoing also and love meeting new people :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m traveling through Africa with a friend, and we’re hoping to meet friendly people that will share their culture with us :)
I am also in the process of making a web program that will teach people how to use and apply technology in a self-paced visual manner. I’d love to learn more about disparities in technology education within different countries so I can make my site and program better.

Music, Movies, and Books
I LOVE all types of music!!!! I really like to read, mainly nonfiction but I also love mysteries and science fiction. My favorite book so far has been Be Here Now because it taught me a lot about empathy and respect for other people as well as myself.
My favorite movie is The Parent Trap, but I love to watch documentaries, action/adventure movies, and comedies. I also hope to make my own movies/vlogs at some point.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share
English is my first language, and semi-proficient in Spanish (hoping to improve my speaking skills). I know a lot about art and design, web development, and personal development. My dad was a personal sales/relations coach for 30 years and managed motivational speakers, so I grew up learning how to help others set and achieve measurable goals. I’m hoping to share some of what I know and learn a bunch more from the people I meet!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with building & designing websites (full stack development), setting up+maintaining blogs, and social media/affiliate marketing. I’ve also learned a lot about the business/investment world through reading books over the past few months, and I could help explain crypto currency and the future of the Internet, Web 3.0, as it’s just starting to develop.
I competed in DECA, a competitive business club, so I have a lot of experience with building ideas from the bottom up and networking with a diverse range of people. I also enjoy photography/videography, so I could teach you what I know and/or help you produce content.
