About Me

Hi there! My name is Claire and I am a 23 year old International Development Studies graduate from Pickering (just east of Toronto), Ontario, Canada. Although I grew up in the suburbs, the forests of Muskoka is where my heart truly lies and where I have spent almost every summer of my life.

My first real exposure to traveling came during my third year of University when I studied and completed a placement in Quito, Ecuador. Currently, I am volunteering for a Canadian project in La Paz, Bolivia and I hope to travel more of Bolivia during the year and South America when my contract finishes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I am interested in having unique travel experiences. Also, my favourite part about traveling is meeting people and learning about the beautiful world we live in. Unfortunately, I can't host people due to my currently living situation but when I'm back in Canada I would love to have you!

Music, Movies, and Books

I couldn't pick a favourite genre, artist, or song if you paid me 1 million dollars. I'm almost always listening to music and I almost always have a song stuck in my head. As for movies, I love the The Secret Life of Walter Mitty About Time, Pride and Prejudice, and Tangled (I know, I know, I just lost some cool points but, I promise my taste in music is better than my taste in movies). I love Harry Potter (shoutout to my fellow Ravenclaws), and my favourite authors are C.S. Lewis and Sarah Bessey.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Quilatoa Loop in the rain and arrived at the volcanic lake just in time to see a beautiful rainbow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to teach or help you practice your English as long as I can practice my Spanish. I also want to learn about your city, why you love it (or hate it), where all the good places are to eat, and last but not least you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share knowledge about traveling, living, and volunteering in South America, specifically Ecuador and Bolivia. I also love to exchange stories over a hot cup of tea (that I can make for you).
