About Me
*If you are wanting to stay, please read about my home before requesting so that you know that we are a good match and please make your request personal - it's much nicer that way*
I love to learn and the best way to do this is through travel, exploring, and meeting people along the way. I go with the flow and like to share cultures.
I'm British born and raised but now live in the Netherlands; my heart is my home
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Surfing: It is the most organic way to learn about a place and its people. It widens my knowledge of the world by opening my mind to new people and cultures.
Hosting: My husband and I are at a stage of our lives where we are happily settled but don't have children yet. It's the perfect time to host; we've spent most of our 20s travelling and couchsurfing and would like to give back and offer the same kindness and hospitality that has been given to us. We want to invite the world into our home.
Interests
Museums and nature are my happy places and I love to dance, hike, surf, and I'm a total language and history nerd.
- Feeding is very much my love language and I am always looking for new recipes. I have been a vegetarian for 9 years and I love to show people that meat-free cooking doesn't have to be boring.
- I volunteer at an animal shelter once a week to get my weekly bunny-love fix.
- I do jiu-jitsu and have competed a few times, but now I just do it for fun.
- I do belly dancing and have performed in a few shows.
- I sing in a classical women's choir and am quite musical.
- I am also a qualified yoga teacher since 2021.
- My biggest love in this life is languages. I studied Spanish and Portuguese at university and I'm always trying to learn something in a new language.
I'm now based in the Netherlands. Although unexpected, I adore our peaceful life here. We've definitely (finally) settled because we now have a cat 😺
And that's about it 😇

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Shakira, Crowded House, basic girl pop (think, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan), Eurovision, and all things British rock. Important to know: Paul Mccartney is my favourite Beatle and I pick Blur over Oasis any day.
Books: Aleph and Brida both by Paulo Coelho; Autobiographies in general - people have such fascinating lives
Films: Rocky; Dunkirk; Four Lions; anything with/by Sacha Baron Cohen;
Theatre: Shakespeare (pretty much anything - I can fangirl over the Bard any day), La Nona, Bodas de Sangre (acted in them both at university), War of the Worlds (Jeff Wayne's version), Fiddler on the Roof
TV: The Simpsons; Crazy Ex Girlfriend; Doctor Who* (up until Peter Capaldi); Mad Men; Machos Alfas; Dragonball; 2000s British TV - think The IT Crowd, The Inbetweeners...
*Wrote a musical based on Doctor Who in 2013 - if that's your thing, we are Whovian friends :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2022, I completed the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage by foot from Porto in 11 days with my late dad. It's a really special memory for me.
Teach, Learn, Share
Let me cook for you and introduce you to the most bizarre British pop culture.
I love to dance so if you're down to boogie, I'm in!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will cook for you and exchange stories. Are you familiar with Mr Blobby? Ali G? Boris Johnson's ancient curse? Allow me to destroy whatever dignity you had associated with the UK and understand why although I love my not at all serious country, I had to leave it 😅
Countries I’ve Visited
