About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to be aware and present

ABOUT ME

i am a wild animal in some ways, yet i enjoy humans much of the time, though not the fabricated puppet-show-of-politics/media/oppression aspect of humanity. those engaging in the creation of truth, peace, joy, justice, i appreciate and celebrate you!

PHILOSOPHY

love so intensely, to transform oppression into freedom, decolonize our minds, allowing our hearts to shine brightly

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have enjoyed hosting several surfers who have brought their own unique brand of beauty to my home. i look forward to more serendipitous experiences.

Interests

connecting with a variety of people in various ways grabs my attention. i spend much of my time dancing, massaging, and being a mama to my two lovely sons.

Music, Movies, and Books

i don't watch a lot of movies, so when i do, i am usually easily entertained. i particularly enjoyed The Business of Fancydancing by Sherman Alexie. i've also enjoyed reading his novels and short stories. Rabbit-proof Fence made me cry for weeks afterwards. i am a Harry Potter fan. i love books about medicinal and edible herbs and wild plants. a favorite novel i read years ago is Garden in the Dunes by Leslie Marmon Silko. when i was a child, my favorite story for a long time was The Secret Garden.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

giving birth (twice!), being amongst giant ancient trees, looking at the world from a mountain top

Teach, Learn, Share

boundaries are such a learning opportunity for all. many of my couchsurfers have mentioned that they've been made more aware about "fragrances" through staying here.
when you send a request to me, please let me know what your current product use is like: laundry detergent, softeners, lotion, soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, hair cream/spray/gel, ,air freshener, fragrance oils, essential oils, sunscreen, etc. these are products that often have toxic ingredients that i can not have in my unscented home. i am exposed to these types of things at work, at dance class, at clubs, on the street, and my home is my haven where i need to let go of the need to constantly protect myself from these offensive substances. i have had people come to my home without awareness of what they use. they might say, "oh, i haven't put anything on today", or "but i haven't washed my hair for three days", or "well i had to put on sunscreen", or (a common one) "it's all natural". when i identify the brand of detergent, or specific product someone uses, they might say "wow, how did you know...you're so sensitive." then they'll sniff their clothes as if their desensitized nose would be able to detect something they're huffing all the time. the reason i can smell it and they cant is because i'm not desensitized, not because i'm sensitive, but i guess it's all relative.
if you are a perfume user and are willing to go through the extensive process of de-scenting (start weeks before you come), or you are willing to leave your scented stuff outside and take a baking soda shower and borrow my clothes, then by all means, put in a couch request. if you are unwilling to do this, then please pass me up and find another couch.
if you are unscented in your everyday existence, i thank you for participating in a more life-affirming way of life.
thanks for reading!
