About Me

I'm a Return Peace Corps Volunteer (Clinic and Health Team sector, in Botswana) who is currently getting her Masters in Public Policy, with a minor in Human Rights. I have been to 5 of the 7 continents, and hope to round that out before I'm 30.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because you haven't really been to a place until you know its people, language, food and culture. You have to be able to walk around without a map, and find the nooks and crannies that aren't listed in the brochures. I also am a firm believer that story telling and exchanging is one of the most magical experiences groups of people can have with one another. Harder to do that in a hotel.

Interests

traveling, talking, debating, singing, reading, writing, cooking, dancing, photo taking, walking, hiking, star gazing

Music, Movies, and Books

Damn near anything on all three counts, but thematically I tend to like folk, blues, and jazz (also, ANYTHING that makes me want to dance is fine by me.) I like movies I can cry over, and have a soft spot for comedic action movies. I like books about different perspectives, and traveling, but I also love Stephen King and dystopian political books (think "Harrison Bergeron")

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participated in a drum circle in the Tuli Block, under a blanket of Botswana stars, with a young bachelor elephant about 50ft away.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know Setswana relatively fluently (losing it the longer I have been away from Botswana), I also love music, and cooking. I would love to learn more languages, how to scuba, and anything else someone is passionate about enough to teach me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Responsibilities around the house, and excellent stories from around the world.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, El Salvador, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Jamaica, Mexico, Mozambique, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In

Botswana, United States
