ABOUT ME

I am a cancer, which means I have a tough shell and gushy insides. I have to remember to smile sometimes. I am also a little homemaker, and I cook and can the food I grow. I'm pretty good at it.

PHILOSOPHY

some things work out and some things don't. but there are always things to learn, choices to be made, expectations to fulfill or destroy, and in the end you just have to try as hard as you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have never hosted a couch surfer but I would be into it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met a few people through couch surfing a while back when I was traveling in South America. I had good experiences, nice folks.

Interests

biking, reading, partying, telling dirty jokes,
growing beautiful arugula, having girl talk, listening to new music.

Music, Movies, and Books

most of the fiction i read these days is in short story form. then there is all this non-fiction business that i could never concentrate on when i was younger. science, sociology, history, all fun.

i love radio pop. it's terrible but true. i also like all those indie folk groups that i don't really feel like listing. getting into hip hop.

i don't really watch movies. but i do watch the daily show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

one summer i worked at an educational outdoor camp, where kids from the cities come out to the mountains in north carolina for two weeks to learn about the woods. one night we were walking back to the campsite in the complete dark, no flashlights, and everyone was freaking out because the trail was kind of hard to see, and there were probably 20 of us in total with nothing to guide us but the feel of the ground. one of my campers, julia, who was 13, ended up stepping up as leader, calming everyone down and feeling the trail for herself, leading us all slowly to our tents, having nothing but her own intuition and confidence. i felt like i saw her grow about 2 years in half an hour.

Teach, Learn, Share

it's nice to be a young adult who knows things. i am great at growing food. i am great at teaching about it because that's what i do for a living.

i love food and i will share everything i know about it in exchange for some of your favorite recipes.
