About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see as much of the world as possible before having to settle down into a 9-5 job
ABOUT ME
What keeps me happy:
- Travelling - whether it's 5 or 5000 miles away
- Singing - have been singing in a choir for over 10 years now and it's one of the highlights of my week
- Reading (ex-English literature student!) - some of my favourite authors are the Brontes, Hardy, Daphne du Maurier, but I will read pretty much anything and everything I can find!
- Going to the theatre or concerts
- Sport - mainly badminton and netball, but I also love cycling (especially when travelling)
- Seeing friends
- Good food and good wine
- Trying new things
PHILOSOPHY
People should be free to do whatever makes them happy, as long as it isn't at the expense of somebody else's happiness.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite film: The English Patient
Also pretty good: Amélie, Atonement, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Goodbye Lenin, Hot Fuzz, Jane Eyre (BBC), Little Miss Sunshine, My Best Friend's Wedding, North and South, Pride and Prejudice (BBC), The Lord Of The Rings, Ratatouille, Up!, Wall-E
Favourite book: Persuasion (Jane Austen)
And a small selection of my other favourites....
The Blind Assassin, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Jane Eyre, The Return Of The Native, The Scapegoat (du Maurier), The Picture of Dorian Gray, The House of Mirth, Wuthering Heights, The Book Thief
I can't even begin to write down my favourite music (although Regina Spektor comes pretty high up the list) - I can listen and love almost every genre, although hard-core drum and bass drives me a little mad....!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favourite memories from China is treking across the Great Wall. But not just any part of it. We drove 120km north of Beijing to avoid the crowds and hiked 10.5km across a part that looked as though it hadn't been touched since the day it was built. At times it was dangerous, at others downright unpleasant (35 degree heat + humidity!), but I can't describe the feeling when we reached the end and came across the most beautiful lake I've ever seen, surrounded by greenery and completely unspoiled.
After spending a while taking it in we then got to zipwire down. Amazing!!
