About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To get lost in a new place, find something familiar in a foreign area, and to make friends and connections with strangers.
ABOUT ME
I am Claire, a quirky, sometimes quiet, sometimes wacky, always upbeat, rarely frowning grad student hoping to explore and meet people from all over the world. I love learning about different cultures, finding out ways in which we all may be different, but at the same time discovering ways in which we are all connected despite language barriers, cultural and religious differences.
PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy on life is always changing. But the one thing I always try to stay true to is to never judge people for things that I at first may feel uncomfortable with, or disagree with. There is almost always a reason and you may never know why people act in ways in which you do not want or expect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am hoping to find open couches in Spain and Portugal, but am always willing to share a space in my current home for those in need!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to the whole experience and hope that I get a chance to see what it is all about!
Interests
I recently took up running (ran my first half marathon this past Spring!), I've always enjoyed bicycling, especially since it is the most efficient way to explore any place, old or new. I also love hiking, hanging out at coffee shops, or chilling and listening to music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my most memorable experiences is from doing research in Greenland. We did work routinely on large sea cliff and the first time we pulled up there were millions of seabirds (kittiwakes, gulls, murres) flying back and forth from their nest and the sea. It was amazing to witness the endless energy that existed in that colony and the vast number of birds that lived in the same place. I've never felt so small, but doing research on this colony made me feel a part of something big!
