About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Save up to Wwoof & volunteer around Europe

ABOUT ME

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science in my home of Melbourne, but am planning on taking some time off to work and then travel and experience life! I recently travelled internationally to New Zealand (which is basically another state of Australia :P) for the first time on my own and I made such wonderful friends and grew so much in my confidence and independence. So imagine how excited I am to travel for longer in a much more distant country!

PHILOSOPHY

If it's anything it's that my philosophy always changed! Ha!
In principle I guess it's live to create happiness, both in myself and others. This also means try to reduce the harm you do, which can be harder to stick to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just surfing at the moment, living with my parents and they're not yet ready for hosting someone they don't know. It's their house so I understand.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far! Excited to finally have a go!

Music, Movies, and Books

I particularly like drama films, the ones that really capture your attention and absorb you in another person or peoples world. I also quite like foreign language films, as they're often made with slightly different styles and boundaries so are often very refreshing!
Some films I have loved are:
The Lord of the Rings (I'm obsessed)
The Hobbit
The English Patient
Hot Fuzz
Shaun of the Dead
The Grand Budapest Hotel
LORE
The lives of others
The Constant Gardener
The Wind that shakes the Barley
Moulin Rouge

I have very broad music tastes and generally the only music I don't like is music I'm sick of hearing (unless I absolutely love it) There are a couple of genres that I can't quite 'get' but am open to trying

Some bands/musicians I love:

Radiohead
Arctic Monkeys - (saw live 9/5/14)
Franz Ferdinand
King Creosote
Bonobo
Alt-J
Muse - (Saw live 9/12/10 & 10/12/13)
Hungarian music
Celtic music
Gotye
London Grammar
Sigur Ros

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This one was hard to pick but I think it would have to be helping a ewe give birth at my Uncle's farm when I was 11. For a city kid it was a very strange experience but my Uncle helped me and told me what to do and I felt so proud to have helped, seeing the little lamb just survive because I had helped it.

The most exciting times in my life would have to be concerts however.
Feeling the emotions of the crowd and the vibrations of the music, the anticipation of the performer(s) and the desperation to seize every moment of the concert.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can't say I have many skills to share but I enjoy participating in many things!
My love is for rollerblading! Quite an obscure thing, but I always miss it when I don't take my skates with me, and I love helping people (I am not always the best teacher, some things are hard to explain :P) I love cooking! I am no master chef, and I never get anything cooked quickly but it's something I think is great to do individually, but particularly having fun cooking with other people!

I would love to learn any skills that can be taught! Really anything! Be it languages, music, practical skills or really obscure things!
