About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To provide a hospitable place for people passing through
ABOUT ME
I love to travel. I lived in France for a year and have visited Spain, Canada, and Mexico as well. One of my favorite cities is San Francisco.
I write, cook, sew, and spend time with friends. I am working on going back to school to study cognitive science, because I'm interested in the intersection of our minds and our clothes.
PHILOSOPHY
I love people. There is always enough grace, even in the worst of moments. Connecting to others, no matter where they are from or for how long. We don't know how much time we all get here, so it's best to make every moment matter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was homeless for four months and two lovely people let me sleep on their couch. I couldn't have made it through those months without them.
Interests
writing, reading, watching movies (bad or good), painting, sewing, planning dinner parties, dancing in the rain at midnight, poetry, art, humanity, places, experiences
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of local artists as well as a lot of British ones. I like 80s glam rock, Rush, Mumford & Sons, the Sultans of Ping, Pickwick, The Head and the Heart, The Lumineers, and Alabama Shakes.
I love pretty much any genre (with the exception of most horror films). I like to engage in story and humor. I think film is an art and there are a lot of ways to do art. My favorite movies include Sweet Land, Delicatessen, Billy Elliott, War of the Buttons, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, The Boss of it All. My favorite directors are Joss Whedon, Brian Fuller, Lars von Trier, and Christopher Nolan.
I will read pretty much every autobiography or biography. If it's a volume of poetry, a classic novel, or anything close to decent philosophy, I will read that too. Again, I love a good story.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have fallen in love, more than once. Every time it demands more of me than I think I could possibly give, and it is more wonderful than anything else.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share food! It might not be the best example of "American" cuisine, but it'll be delicious. I can also share friends.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love literature and art. I'll take you to a museum, write you a poem, or cook for you. If we can manage it, I'll also stay up with you until 3 in the morning talking philosophy.
