About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling South America- just a lonesome girl on a mission to challenge herself and see the world.

ABOUT ME

I am 24 years old and have just finished my Honours degree in Justice and Transformation at the University of Cape Town.
I have have been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively in my life and it is one of my favourite things to do.
I want to visit each continent in my lifetime. I believe that seeing the world, meeting and learning through diverse and new people is the greatest gift human beings have been given.
This is my first trip overseas completely alone. I am excited to challenge myself and add another chapter to my life's journey.

PHILOSOPHY

Always push yourself to make your reality worth something. No one can do it for you.
You always have a choice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfers and have yet to host someone or surf, myself. Hopefully this will all change soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent three months travelling in South America from November 2013 until February 2014.
I couchsurfed in Sao Paulo, Lima and Ica. If I did not stay with individuals, I was fortunate to meet wonderful, funny, generous and intresting friends through networks on CS.
I have hosted at my placer in Cape Town and can honestly say that I have made friends for life.

Interests

I am a teaching assistant in the politics department at UCT. I love to read, discover new music, spend hours on the beach, swim until I am wrinkled, sing really loudly and play the piano.
I wish I could speak more languages and plan to learn. I am starting my Masters degree in 3 months- Transitional Justice in South Africa.
I like arguing, when the topic is worth it. I like watching live music and plays. I especially love musicals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Road tripped up to the mountains of Lesotho, ran out of water and had to hike a mountain, collect snow and melt it to make breakfast; flown to Sao Paulo, not knowing anyone, the language or where I was going, backpacked around South America- white water rafted on the Urubamba river, gone on the highest zipline series in South America; got bitten by a Kappachin monkey, mountain- biked 56kms downhill dropping 2000m in Peru; Hiked a four day jungle trek to the summit of Machu Picchu Montana; visited the incredible Iguazu falls;
Gone to a Summer solstice Druid festival at Stone henge, visited Pompeii, the Eiffel tower, the Lourve; marveled at the gorgeous cathedrals at Orvieto as well as the Duomo in Florence.

Merely hiking up Table Mountain in my beautiful city is amazing. I want to see and do as much as I can. The list goes on.
