About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world, then think about it some, and have a dance in every country I go

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm 27, from New Zealand (Tauranga, a beautiful spot in the North Island by the sea). I love to travel and have had ants in my pants since I left home in the North Island to go study and play in the South Island and I haven't stopped moving since! I've lived in Belgium, Leeds, Hebden Bridge and am now in London.

I live up to the kiwi characteristics of relaxed, casual, friendly and I really like music. All kinds of music. And food, all kinds of food. Yum. And I love beer and wine. And whiskey. I'm also an outdoorsy type with a bit of a running addiction and sea-swimming fetish - I love a good grassy hill and rugged coastline.

Meeting new people and seeing new places is pretty much one of the best things about life and travel. So many stories!

PHILOSOPHY

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just new to couchsurfing but the experience has been highly, majorly recommended by friends. I am a wwoofer and I love it so couchsurfing is for me! Very much looking forward to meeting and learning about the people and places I surf on couches in.

Interests

Running around outside, reading all sorts, painting sometimes, farms and gardening, beautiful buildings, editing/making books, cheese, making sure that the planet is clean and cared for, swimming and being at the beach, music - chronic singer-alonger, cooking and eating

Music, Movies, and Books

Some movies: The Labyrinth, Pan's Labyrinth, Bridesmaids, Sense and Sensibility, Moneyball, Free Willy, Blade Runner

Some music: Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Old Crow Medicine Show, Laura Marling, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, Otis Redding, The Beatles, The Black Keys, The Checks, Crowded House

Some books: Persuasion, Persepolis, Darkmans, Anne of Green Gables, An Equal Stillness, The Children's Book, The Cat and the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The BFG, Tess of the D'Urbervilles

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Central Otago in New Zealand is incredible. The beaches in Samoa are paradise. Being in the Medina in Marrakech... amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that Green Eggs and Ham is a text all humans should read and absorb. Try things out, listen to your instincts though. I like conversations a lot - it's amazing what you remember, what changes the way you think, and what you apply both close to and very far away from them.
