About Me

I'm Claire, a recent college graduate, who has been enjoying the freedom that "real life" has to offer. I work within the arts education realm and am passionate about the role arts play in a community and in education.

Outside of work I enjoy traveling, being with friends, riding my bike around the city, seeing live music and theatre, and so much more.

In the summer of 2013 I spent two months driving 9,000 miles around the country and ever since, my need to travel and see new places hasn't stopped growing. I love experiencing new things and exploring the nooks and crannies a city has to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am still a newbie to the couchsurfing community. I have been a surfer a few times, but due to my living situation have not had the pleasure of hosting or showing anyone around (I hope to change this soon).

My sister introduced me to couching surfing during our cross-country road trip. We needed a place to crash in Boulder, CO and just as luck would have it, that same weekend turned out to be the Boulder Couch Crash. It was an amazing weekend and I am very excited to get more involved! The couchsurfing community in Boulder is extremely welcoming and willing to go the extra mile and I hope to be able to offer the same warmth and sincerity to folks visiting Chicago.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a major part of my life. I love all genres of music - from indie to jazz to good old rock n' roll. Some of my favorites include: Radiohead, Local Natives, Alt-J, Grimes, Kendrick Lamar, First Aid Kit, Purity Ring, Chance the Rapper, Tame Impala, James Blake, M.I.A, I could go on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching sunrise in Chicago on the lakefront, and then heading to Clark's Diner for an epic breakfast. Sunrise in Chicago is beautiful. The way the yellows and reds reflect off the skyline is one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen and worth the long and cold winter. It is the perfect juxtaposition: man-made beauty and mother nature's beauty.

Teach, Learn, Share

Having grown up in the suburbs, attended college in the city, and now working and living here, I like to think I have a pretty vast knowledge on what Chicago has to offer.

Other things:
I know an abundance of ice breaker games.
I often times function as a personal GPS/map (I'm pretty great with directions)

I am open and willing to learn new things! Learning is the only way to grow!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My glowing personality! But really, I am a very easy and laid back guest- a couch, chair, or floor space is good enough for me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, Dominican Republic, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands
