I'm Claire, 25yo, from France. Currently unemployed, I travel the world to practice my english, meet new people and discover different cultures. In September 2020, I will enter university in Paris in order to get my degree in english litterature. I am not fluent yet but practicing ! I got two cats, one ki- hum, boyfriend, and a big sense of humor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here because I don't want to be alone in a perfect bedroom in a perfect expensive hotel. I only sleep in hostels or at some friends places to talk with people, share things with them, learn about them, their lives, their cultures. World is not the dangerous place that TV want us to believe it is. It's amazing and I wanna be a part of it.

I cannot host at the time I write this because I don't have my own place anymore. In Paris things will be different. Stay tunned !

Interests

Since two years now I discovered myself into a mountain person. I hike, I did my first trek in October 2019, in Nepal. One of my dreams was to see Mt Everest. Approach the top of the world as close as possible. I went to the Everest Base Camp and destroyed my knees going down (that and the half marathon I did a few days later !). Now I'm trying to heal myself to go back into running and hiking at home.

I also love animals. I'm a vegetarian since my last travel, which I've wanted to become for a long time because I don't really like meat and fish, and I wanted to do something against global warming. Plus I needed to do my part as a big user of aircrafts. I would love to help you if you have a farm or animals in general to take care of. I don't care if you're not a vegetarian as long as I can skip the meat at dinner time ! :D I eat everything else, do not cook especially for me, save you the trouble ! I can also cook for you !

I'm more into TV shows than movies. I'm a HUGE fan of The Big Bang Theory, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Grey's Anatomy..

To be completely honest, I'm starting an english litterature licence because I want to be a teacher and maybe also a journalist and it is a way to become one, but I read almost nothing in english yet. I would be so grateful if you could tell me about your favourite books ♥ I love to read in French and I love english language so there's no reason I won't like reading in english !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The beggining of my adventure in Nepal was a rough one. I was afraid of taking a scary plane (which lands at Lukla airport one of the most dangerous on earth), so instead I decided to take a jeep for 14 hours, cross a mud flood, and hike for 3 days under the monsoon. I've been abandonned by my guides at the very beggining of the walk. But then, I saw a British man and his own guide. I asked them if I could join, they accepted, and I had the best time of my life with them. Hard walk, wet clothes, mud everywhere on me, but Keith and Bhakta became two of my best friends ever. This adventure taught me how lucky I was to have that comfort in Europe, also that kindness is universal. It helped me to deal with a lot of my fears.

Now I'm the weird woman who smiles a bit too much just because she's happy to see humans.

I would be very happy to teach you some French. I don't really know if I'm good at it, but I will try with pleasure ! I would like you to share with me your best stories, of travels, of life. Encounters like that are so precious. We grow up by talking with each other.
