Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted many a couchsurfer over the years...always a positive experience...also been hosted a few times and made some good friends along the way...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted by Marco in Ribadesella in Spain...trying to sleep rough and he rescued me into the home of himself and his wife...no online couchsearch necessary!

Felt immediately at home in Cork with Joya & Forrest...went fishing for the first time ever and was shown the town's good craic.

Hosted last minute by a wonderful Hagen in Munich...we swam in a lake and ate marvellous food.

Shown the party side of Barcelona by Juan Pablo...ended up in some kinda riot running away from the police (all to do with football...Barca won!) A kind of CS exchange as he stayed with me first...salsa dancing in Liverpool!

Camped with CS in Rennes...Rasta man!

Music, Movies, and Books

Tom Waits, Down By Law, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance...Ani Di Franco, Conversations with God, How to Be Idle...Howling Wolf, Beetlejuice, Jupiter's Travels......music that moves...from African drums to slide guitar; didgeredoo to bagpipes; banjos and fiddles; tambourines and finger cymbals....old school Blues and Jazz to Drum n Bass...A capella to instrumental...

Any movies which leave you with something, asking questions as well as answering them, subtitled films and black and white a favourite...not so keen on action films and lots of special effects...

Love to read books, devour 'em...one day would like a room for a library...especially like old books...the smell...other people's annotations in the margin...50p books from the charity shop....exchanging books...read em and pass em on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent the beginning of this year in the Northern Amazon jungle of Peru.

Trekked several days in the Peruvian Andes and hiked to ancient sacred site Machu Picchu...wow!

I cycled the Camino del Norte in Spain from Santander to Santiago...600kms raising £600+ for the mental health charity Mind (http://travellinglight.tk/)

Swam with whalesharks on my 21st birthday in Exmouth's Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia.

One month Australian road trip in a VW camper with no papers!

I rode down to Plymouth on my first motorbike, a 125cc Honda, , ferried to Brittany then spent a month on the road wildcamping & wwoofing. A wonderful first motorcycle road trip experience.

Helped build an Eco-house whilst wwoofing in Brittany...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share Liverpool's alternative 'scene' with you...also Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology & Reiki...very basic motorcycle mechanics....a ride on the back (if you're sensible and wear all the gear)...good cookin and eatin...the best trees to climb...would like to learn more languages...have very basic Spanish & French and know a few words in many languages...would like to learn whatever you can teach me!
