About Me
Oh man! This profile is wildly dated! I think I last updated it in 2010, so six years later, I am far less romantic, and a little more cynical and light hearted? If it is possible for those two traits to coexist in one personality :). I am currently a registered nurse pursuing my master's degree in public health, and though I LOVE caring for the sick and musing on the social determinants of health, I secretly fantasize that some day I will pack up the whole charade and spend all of my days crafting and writing short stories.
Recently, I have traveled to Big Bend National Park and Marfa out in West Texas because I am currently living in Austin, TX. My travel-mate, Adam was recently in India building houses and before that rode is bike from Maine to Florida!
ABOUT ME
*I created this profile two years ago! I haven't had a lot of time to update it, most of the information is relevant but I wasn't in Mexico City a few nights ago, I was in Cambridge, MA.
After almost a year of exotic traveling and cultivating gardens of people, ideas and friendship I am suffering from a painful spell of indifference and not knowing. Lately I tend to experience every way of thinking and perceiving as an ideology and have difficulty blindly following one for more than a few months before other suns start to shine through the loop holes and I go in search of new light. I am fascinated by people and places that stand in sharp contrast to myself and the places I have been, however terrifying they may be at first glance. I love everything imaginative and am very fond of the surreal.
I like to be thrilled by accident. A few nights ago I was flying through Mexico City on foot almost dragged at the elbow by my father who was engaged in a vicious hunt of a small independent movie store. Through the chaotic goose chase I was captivated by the city's colorful passing, the green neon glow a city block bathed in, the sadness of an empty restaurant, the smiles and skeptical glances of diners enjoying or detesting each other's company, the black spotted sidewalk covered with the chewing gum debris of pedestrians. I love the mix of tired and enthused looks on entertainers a medley of work and passion. I enjoy watching parents persisently introduce their children to the world without rest and struggle to fit them in. . . I adore colors and love to allow the patience and spirit of my eyes to be completely soaked by the restless spine and flight of a flag.
PHILOSOPHY
Be infinite and limitless as the four directions. They are boundless and form no enclosures.
- Zhuangzi
'I can't tell if you're serious or not,' said the driver.
'I won't know myself until I find out whether life is serious or not,' said Trout. 'It's dangerous, I know, and it can hurt a lot. That doesn't necessarily mean it's serious too.'
- Vonnegut
To dwell is to garden.
