About Me

Current Mission

Working as an engineer, coordinating a sustainable development organisation, coaching a rowing crew, running.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 38 year old, Limerick City native, who is working as an engineer but also involved in a lot of urban planning and environmental stuff.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was persuaded to become a couch-surfing host by two Californian backpackers who I offered my couch to one night last winter. I hope to host a few official couch surfers this summer, all going well. I probably won't be travelling anywhere for a while, so I'm just a host for the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I unwittingly hosted some Californian couch-surfers, who were lovely people. They were the only ones until recently. Then, in May 2012, an english guy stayed with us. The experience has been very positive.

Interests

Running, flying, people, stories, growing things, mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm generally into social history type books and anything that teaches me about how the world works. Have a very broad music taste so there's probably no point in going into it here!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most memorable and exhilarating moments of my life have probably been while running in the mountains amongst friends and competitors. It's probably a feeling that our most primitive ancestors knew very well, and feeling that connection with them is pretty cool.

I've also spent some time teaching disadvantaged kids in my home town, and coaching kids at a local sports club, and this is incredibly fulfilling. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share knowledge of local Limerick history and culture. I'm quite involved in a few local projects and am generally plugged in to what's going on in this city.
