About Me

Hello ! I'm Clara. :) I don't really know how to resume myself - I'm passionate about so many things ! I grew up in New-Caledonia and French Polynesia, and now I live in Toulouse (France) where I study Film-Making and Audio-Visual Arts. Before that, I've studied Philosophy (one of my passions), and I've also done what we call in France a 'Classe Préparatoire' (but it was dreadful). I'm interested in many different things, and in many different ways to view things; and as you do, I enjoy a zingy passion for travelling ! :D

*** I am now roadtripping around the world, so I cannot host at the moment. All the best for your stays in Toulouse! ***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am actually roadtripping around the world. I'm doing loads of hitchhiking and couchsurfing, as I love to meet plenty of people and their different universes. I experience it as a more intense and human way of travelling than the classic touristic paths. When I explore a country, I want to discover its people, their ways of living, of thinking, the way society works... and I love to meet fellow travellers too ! Couchsurfing is amazing for this. And when I get back home in Toulouse, I'd love to give a roof to fellow couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kind of arts (and I have a rather broad definition for 'art'). Both to spectate and to create!

*BOOKS* I love reading ! JK Rowling is the writer who really changed my life with Harry Potter and The Casual Vacancy. I've recently been reading and enjoying 'On the Road' by J. Kerouac, 'Fahrenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury, 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley, 'La Nausée' by JP Sartre, 'Nous Rêvions juste de liberté' by H. Loevenbruck, '1984' by George Orwell... I'm keen on many many philosophers, but if I had to mention one it would definitely be Nietzsche. I'm also getting more and more curious and enthusiastic about oriental philosophy.

*FILMS* So many good films ! I love all kinds of genres, as long as the movie catches me. I'm particularly fond of Sci-Fi and Fantasy movies when there's psychological, relational, philosophical or political issues implied in the action. Hard to define a favorite director, but I will definitely mention Alfonso Cuarón, The Wachowski sisters and Alejandro Jodorowsky !

I don't watch much anime and TV series as it is quite time-consuming... but here are the exceptions I am totaly crazy about :

*SERIES* Sherlock, Mr Robot, and Black Mirror.

*ANIME* Death Note and Attack on Titans.

*VIDEOGAMES* My last crushes are Life is Strange, Orwell, Beholder, The Stanley Parable, Human Fall Flat and 1789 Revolution. I occasionaly play a bit of League of Legends with friends, just for fun. I'd love to learn programming.

*MUSIC* I listen to all kinds of music, from classic to metal - it depends of my mood ! I am particularly keen on rock'n'roll, especially 60's-70's-80's rock'n'roll (Pink Floyd, The Eagles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Green Day, Survivor, Eurythmics, David Bowie, AC/DC, King Crimson, Queen, Guns'n'Roses, La Femme, etc, etc...), I also listen to all kinds of electro music, to rap (Eminem, Kenny Arkana, Stupeflip, Silvana Imam, Cosmo, IAM...), metal (DragonForce, Nightwish, System of a Down...), reggae, classic, movie and anime soundtracks, polynesian and melanesian tunes... I really love to discover independant, unknown or ethnic musics. And I can even enjoy pop commercial music (sometimes).
