About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To immerse myself in as many cultures in as many different places on earth as is possible!
ABOUT ME
My dream is to see every single country on earth and meet as many people as possible along the way. Living in a multicultural country (Australia) I'm constantly exposed to different ideas from around the world. I can't wait to be out there experiencing life in as real a way as is possible.
I love extended overlanding trips when I travel. Of course, working full-time does not allow for this type of travel anymore! Still, 6 months in South America beckons.
PHILOSOPHY
'Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.' Mark Twain
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am happy to respond to everyone's queries about Melbourne and to meet up with and host people when I'm around :) I love to participate in Melbourne group meet-ups when I can!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Dec 2007 - Xmas day in LA with Ale
Feb 2009 - First (of many) Melb group outings
Mar 2009 - Sound Relief concert with Yvonne from Nashville
Of course, like everyone, I have done loads of un-official couch-surfing prior to this! :)
Interests
Travelling (pretty much a given on this site!), learning about foreign cultures and languages, singing, animals and animal welfare and surgery, photography, watching movies, listening to music, going to the beach, camping, and in general finding out as much about the world as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Notebook, Garden State, Forrest Gump, The Sound of Music, Little Miss Sunshine, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Juno, I Am Sam, Slumdog Millionaire
Music: Jack Johnson, The Cat Empire, Joni Mitchell, Jose Gonzalez, Lauryn Hill, Pete Murray, Sarah Harmer, Frou Frou, Regina Spektor, John Mayer, Britta Persson, Coldplay, Tracey Chapman, Zap Mama
Books: 'The Prophet' - Kahlil Gibran, 'Marley and Me' - John Grogan, and also all of the Lonely Planet titles. I also love autobiographies/biographies, and any travel stories. Bryce Courtenay is also a great author and I love his South African/Australian focus. 'Shantaram' by Gregory David Roberts is my all time favourite book.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing the derelict huanghua section of the great wall of china outside beijing, surrounded by frozen lakes, and completely isolated except for me and my friend!
Hiking up the Pacaya Volcano outside Antigua, Guatemala, and having to move around constantly so my shoes didn't melt! Oh, and toasting marshmallows over the flowing lava of course!
Playing with the children in Swakopmund township, Namibia. I never realised how much I loved kids til then.
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to teach people basic veterinary/medical stuff, cooking, or to discuss anything involving travelling :) I'd love to learn about your culture or about your life in general, or how to cook a dish from your home. We can share stories, meals and great Melbourne experiences :)
