About Me
Hello! I'm Clare!
I am short, a little bit crazy, funny, and very friendly and welcoming.
I am a burgeoning artist, doing mostly portraiture work, but I also work in retail which I love, as I love helping our regular customers.
I have also been a pirate, done kids parties, and worked in a fish and chip shop for too many years.
I like sleeping in, walks along the beach, eating dessert, and googling things I don't know the answer to, this usually leads to talking about random shit.
I'm not a huge drinker, I will have one or two, but don't enjoy getting sloshed and I don't smoke.
I am an omnivore, I try to eat vegetarian and vegan as much as possible, but I will not turn down a meal with meat/animal products in it.
I believe myself to be very open minded and believe anyone can live how they wish as long as it doesn't hurt or oppress anyone, I don't have time for bigotry, hateful opinions and ignorance.
If you'd like to know anything else about me, just ask! :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been wanting to travel around Australia for a while now, but haven't been brave enough, and I finally feel I am ready! (Hence being a member for a few years but not actively using it.)
I am not very well travelled, I've been overseas twice for short trips, and I thought the best place to start would be my own backyard as Australia is very diverse in itself.
For me it is going to be an artistic journey and a bit of soul searching, and I plan to document my travels by sketching the interesting people I meet and stay with.
I also want to connect and meet new people, because we all need to branch out more and I wish to meet open-minded, kind and friendly people.
I'm hoping to be travelling for a few months, so I'll need lots of couches to stay on!
I hope to be able to offer a couch one day :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't really have a favourite kind of music, my interests go across lots of genres, just depends what my ears like!
Only types of music I generally don't listen to would be metal/screamo or country music.
Books and movies: Harry Potter, and LOTR and The Hobbit. Know Harry Potter back to front and have seen the movies and read the books a million times.
Same as with music, I like all sorts of movies!
I do especially love Disney movies and horror movies though, and really bad horror movies are great to watch as they end up being hilarious.
Even if a movie is bad I'll probably watch it but just talk about how crap it is ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once I ate a whole bowl of spaghetti wearing a white tshirt and I didn't get any sauce on me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm pretty keen on living sustainably, reducing my waste and overall consumption to help the planet.
I think the biggest problem with consumerism and waste is how many people aren't aware of problems along the supply chain, so they don't know they can make more sustainable choices.
In saying that there is probably lots I can still learn about zero waste living as I am not perfect :)
Anything about vegan cooking, and hard core zero waste living, I would love to learn as I sometimes struggle.
As I am also a self taught artist, I don't know how to teach drawing, but I know lots of creative exercises to help spark inspiration and activating the right side of the brain. They can also be relaxing and help with mindfulness.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My warm and friendly personality!
I'm pretty good at cooking, so we can whip up a delicious meal and dessert.
We can watch scary movies, play card games, go for walks, anything you like.
I really want to meet as many lovely people as possible, and I will be sketching everyone I stay with as a memory for myself, and for them, so you will get a piece of art out of it eventually!
